Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer 2: 7 Hidden Details and Mysteries Explained?

Its theatrical release is getting closer and closer. To whet your appetite, Sony has released the long-awaited trailer 2 for the new Spider-Man movie. This new trailer comes packed with hidden details of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth installment of the film saga starring Tom Holland, which promises to revolutionize the Spider-Verse by taking advantage of the shocking ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Next July 29 is the day marked on the calendar for Spider-Man fans, as that is when it will hit theaters, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Although there is still more than a month left, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have published a new trailer that hides countless Easter Eggs from Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (who already did the same with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), the movie is anticipated as the most groundbreaking installment of Holland’s period. The plot will rely mainly on the painful outcome of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Peter Parker asks Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to make everyone forget about his existence after the tragic death of Aunt May (Marisa Tomei). Now no one knows that Peter is the hero of New York, so his loved ones are safe. However, it is a tough toll to pay and, to make matters worse, his powers are suffering unexpected changes, one of the most talked about new features of this installment.

1. The Return of Organic Cobwebs

Unlike what happened with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, one of the key decisions with Tom Holland’s version —as with Andrew Garfield’s— was that he would use mechanical web launchers. However, in the new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it is clear that this won’t be like that anymore.

And that is in the second 29, you can see it from the trailer as the devices that Peter Parker usually uses shoot out of his wrists, sabotaged by the organic cobwebs that sprout from inside his body and even pass through the suit.

2. The Disturbing Mutation of Peter Parker (and the return of Scorpio)

This detail of the cobwebs is intrinsically linked to the scene with which the trailer begins. While facing Scorpion (Michael Mando) —a return highly anticipated by fans since Spider-Man: Homecoming—, Peter suddenly notices a strange feeling. What’s happening to me? He is heard saying just before his eyes turn completely black, and he demonstrates a superhuman strength, never seen before, to throw the villain into the air.

3. Peter Turns to Bruce Banner (and the return of the Hulk)

These new abilities don’t seem to be to Peter’s liking, especially since he feels like he is completely losing control of his body. AND who do you know more about dealing with an inner monster? Exactly: Bruce Banner. The character, played again by Mark Ruffalo, will be the ally Peter turns to for desperate answers.

As can be seen in the images, Bruce has recovered his human form thanks to the inhibitor device he wears on his wrist (a great detail of continuity after Avengers: Endgame and She-Hulk). However, the device will not be effective for a long time. One of the most shocking moments of this Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer 2 is seeing how the emerald giant resurfaces, apparently due to the intervention of the mysterious villain of the plot.

4. “A Threat We Can’t See”: Who is the Mysterious Villain?

Although the secrecy on the part of Sony and Marvel remains absolute, it seems increasingly clear that Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) is the actress behind the mysterious hooded figure that appears in the trailers. Will she be the great antagonist? Of course, that is what is implied, although there is already speculation on the networks with theories as crazy as that it could be a first-time version of Jean Grey.

For now, the only certainty is that Spidey will face a formidable enemy, something confirmed by the character played by Tramell Tillman (Severance). “It is a threat that we cannot control and that we cannot even see”, says this enigmatic agent in the trailer, who has every chance of being William Bill Metzger, prominent member of the Damage Control Department. The villain can control and manipulate people’s minds, with Peter being the only one who seems to be immune and, therefore, the city’s only asset to stop her.

5. Frank Castle Enters the Scene (and protects a key character)

The presence of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher is one of the great added values of this new Spider-Installment. Trailer 2 of Spider-Man: Brand New Day makes it clear that the antihero will have a fundamental weight in the plot, becoming an unexpected ally for Peter Parker.

This alliance is consolidated when Peter desperately comes to him to ask him to protect MJ (Zendaya). Of course, faithful to what has been seen in Daredevil: Born Again, Frank is still a ruthless and stubborn guy, so both Peter and MJ will have serious trouble convincing him to collaborate in their cause.

This return of the Punisher occurs right after starring in One Last Kill, the Disney+ special that serves as a link between the first season of Born Again and the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

6. The Hand Comes Into the Picture (and the great connection with Daredevil)

One of the most shocking details of the trailer 2 of Brand-New Day is Peter Parker’s confrontation with Hand, the ancient and secret order of mystical ninjas whose origin dates back to the Daredevil comics and which already had a fundamental weight in the Marvel universe on Netflix and in the miniseries The Defenders.

Since in Daredevil: Born Again, they have not yet made an appearance, this trailer marks the official debut of the organization in the core of the MCU. Although his exact role in the film’s plot remains to be seen, the sequence of Peter fighting a group of these deadly assassins in what appears to be a prison promises to be spectacular.

7. Ned is Trying to Find Out Who Spider-Man Is?

When the advance reaches 1:10, we see Peter attending a party hosted by Ned and MJ at his apartment. There, the hero comes across an overwhelming detail: one of the walls hides a research mural with which his former friends try to discover who is hiding behind Spider-Man’s mask.

Luckily for Peter, Ned doesn’t seem too close to solving the mystery. Beyond having deduced that he is a white man, between 18 and 25 years old, and with a marked Queens accent, he does not have many other clues. For now, the wall-crawler’s big secret is safe, although having the threat so close to home promises to give us the tensest moments of the film.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day promises to be the most mature and surprising installment of Tom Holland’s time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Peter Parker cornered by unexpected mutations, relentless Punisher-like alliances, and a powerful new villain, he grapples with the fact that his friends no longer know him.
