Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Sonic the famous SEGA video game has given birth to a prolific Paramount franchise, now in its third chapter. The sequel had already been announced in February, following the extraordinary success of the first two films of the saga. The saga is then destined to expand also with a spin-off series, dedicated to the enemy of the protagonist blue porcupine, Knuckles. And, today, through a post on the official Sonic Twitter page, the awaited official release date of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has been announced, for which we will have to wait a little longer. The release is expected during the Christmas holidays of 2024, precisely on December 20.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3: What We Know About The Sequel To The Beloved Franchise

Sonic 3 is ready to amaze fans of the saga. The caption posted together with the video announcing the release in the room heralds even more adventure and adrenaline: “Run faster, fly higher and fight harder”. According to the post-credits scene of the previous chapter, it seems that Sonic will have to contend with one of the most powerful villains in the video game, Shadow. At the moment, however, it seems that Jim Carrey – interpreter of Doctor Robotnik – will not return to the film. Confirmed, however, the rest of the cast: Ben Schwartz – the voice of Sonic, James Marsden (Tom Wachowski), Idris Elba – voice actor of Knuckles – and Colleen O’Shaughnessey the voice of Tails.

Explaining the success of the prolific saga and the hope that it will expand in the future was Brian Robbins, President, and CEO of Paramount Pictures & Nickelodeon and head of Paramount content for children and families: “For more than three decades, the universe of characters vibrant and unique Sonic the Hedgehog has spawned one of the most passionate fan bases. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with SEGA, Neal Moritz and all of our creative partners as we explore new ways to expand the  Sonic the Hedgehog franchise across all platforms and captivate its loyal audiences around the world. Sonic 2 was released on April 8, 2022, and remained at the top of the box office around the world weeks after its theatrical release.
