Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Ending Explained: What Happened At End and Who Appears In The Post Credit Scene

In the ending of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, the foundations are laid to continue the story with a third understood or perhaps, who knows, an expanded universe. Therefore in the closing of the film and in the extra scene there are many references to the videogame world and to characters still unpublished in the cinema films dedicated to the blue hedgehog. Super Sonic Appears In The Ending Of Sonic the Hedgehog 2

In the film’s finale, Super Sonic appears for the first time, the golden version of the blue hedgehog, with enhanced powers. After Robotnik takes possession of the Green Emerald, betraying Knuckles, the latter teams up with Sonic and Tails. The three return to Green Hills, discovering that Egghead has built a giant robot with which he plans to dominate the planet. Sonic distracts Robotnik, while Knuckles hits him so hard that the Green Emerald comes out of his body, but it shatters into seven parts: the seven Emeralds of Chaos.

All seems lost, when suddenly the gems enter the body of Sonic, who turns golden and acquires great powers, never expressed before: it is Super Sonic, who defeats Robotnik’s robot with ease. When the emerald comes out of Sonic’s body, it is whole and green again. Sonic, Talis and Knuckles all join the Wachowski family and spend a fun afternoon teaching the red echidna how to play baseball. Sonic and his two alien friends will watch over the Great Emerald, becoming its keepers.

The Shadow Project In The Extra Scene Of Sonic the Hedgehog 2

In the post credit scene we see Walters, the head of the GUN (Guardian Unit of Nation) at the site of the battle between Sonic and Robotnik, in the rubble. The assistant to the brilliant inventor Stone, disguised as a military man, is eavesdropping on the conversation between the man and a subordinate of him, who reveals that Robotnik’s body has not been found. He also informs Walters that many documents have been recovered from the inventor’s secret archive.

Among these he cites a top secret file, which reveals the location of a secret base where a 50-year-old project is hidden. Walters realizes this is the Shadow project. In the next scene we see a hedgehog similar to Sonic but black in color locked in a glass tube inside an underground laboratory, who awakens from his sleep.
