She-Hulk: Who Is Jennifer Walters And What Are Her Powers and Origin Explained!

She-Hulk is the latest Marvel hero to get her own series on Disney+ and she’s something of a quirk. The character, as can be seen from the first trailer, is a female version of the Hulk, but he is in control of his emotions and what happens when he transforms, something that Bruce Banner had to learn over time and managed until Avengers: Endgame, where the character appears with his classic green look, but without the fury and violence that characterize him.

But Hulk is only a “guest” in the new series, which focuses on a character from the 80s who will be played by Tatiana Maslany, whom we have already seen in series such as Orphan Black (where she gives life to clones), Parry Mason (one of HBO Max’s best crime thrillers) and in the film Stronger with Jake Gyllenhaal (based on the true cause of a man who was injured in the Boston Marathon bombing).

She’s one of several characters Marvel is rescuing (such as Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and Echo, who we saw in Hawkeye), but who is She-Hulk really, where does she come from, and what special abilities does she have? The comics reveal some details to us.

Who is Jennifer Walters – She-Hulk?

The She-Hulk character was created by Stan Lee and John Buscema in 1980, eventually getting her own comic called The Savage She-Hulk. In her human form, She-Hulk is named Jennifer Walters, who is Bruce Banner’s cousin and a lawyer who is chosen, at least in the series, to become the face of her company’s superhero/supervillain division, which leads her to run into several powerful characters.

Eventually, something happens in her life that leads her to become She-Hulk. She-Hulk’s story connects with that of other heroes. Her best friend is Patsy Walker, better known as Hellcat, and she ran into Captain America and Iron Man, she also became part of several groups of heroes, such as the Mighty Avengers, Fantastic Four, A-Force, Lady Liberators, and Future Foundation. It also has something in common with Deadpool, since at the end of the 80s they created a story for her in which she discovers that she is in a comic and usually breaks the fourth wall to talk to readers and the audience.

Where Do She-Hulk’s Powers Come From And What Are They?

In the comics, Jennifer is attacked by a criminal and ends up seriously injured, so she receives a blood transfusion from her cousin, aka Bruce Banner, to save her. The problem is that Bruce’s blood is “tainted”, so he mixes with hers and, when he gets angry, he transforms into a green, muscular creature with superhuman strength.

At first, she suffered her transformation in the same way as Bruce Banner (hence Savage), but later that changed and she managed to have more control and retain her personality and intelligence during the transformation, they even gave her a touch of comedy, which is the style they chose to wear in the series.

The difference between She-Hulk and Hulk is that she doesn’t transform into another person or character, she remains herself, just green in color and much stronger, which means she has a combination of strength and intelligence to fight her enemies, and in the comics, he even goes so far as to train with Gamora to master the arts of combat. The most famous villains he faces are Thanos, Abomination (Tim Roth appears in his human form in the trailer), and he even went on to represent Spider-Man in court.
