She-Hulk Episode 9: Summary

We find Jen (Tatiana Maslany) in prison after the nervous reaction she had at the gala, as it is as if she has proved to the world that she is an uncontrollable monster in certain emotional states (here you can find our review of She-Hulk Episode 8). Her co-workers manage to get her released, provided that she, similarly to Emil (Tim Roth), no longer turns into a Hulk, complete with an inhibitor. The consequences, however, are much more serious: she is forced to give up her job, the balance she had managed to find with so much effort between her two “souls” has been forcibly taken away from her, and the only person who could understand it is always unattainable. One thing motivates her to move forward, which is to find the real head of the infamous Intelligencia and, in keeping with the genuine spirit of the series, sue him for defamation.

First, it is impossible to talk about this episode without mentioning even in passing the sensational opening sequence, which follows almost verbatim the intro of the historic show dedicated to the Hulk starring the iconic Lou Ferrigno, even using especially cheesy special effects. A gem that paradoxically sets the tone of the entire conclusion because the truth is that at the end of this half-hour it will seem the most normal and sensible aspect. At one point, the series wedges itself precisely into the classic Marvel series finale seen – and criticized – in abundance, with furious fights that in the narrative make very little sense.

Meanwhile, Nikki and Jen try to sue for defamation and violation of privacy to whoever framed her. Meanwhile, Bruce is nowhere to be found, despite Jen and her lawyers continuing to try to contact him. So, Jen decides to go to Emil, in his spiritual estate Di lei. Meanwhile, Nikki posts an embarrassing video of her friend in college on the Intelligencia website, to get a contact and Hulk King responds to her, inviting her to a private event.

Nikki asks Pug for help, making him infiltrate the evening, while Jen arrives at Emil‘s estate, where she finds a room waiting for her. At the hangout, Pug meets Todd and a group of men who hate She-Hulk and idolize the HulkTodd is the creator of Intelligencia, he is HulkKing. Surprisingly, Abominio shows up at the event as the group’s life coach. Jen bursts into the room: the meeting is right inside Emil‘s estate, which has returned to transform despite the plea bargain. Todd reveals that he hired Josh to make a video of her but also to steal her blood and get her powers. The man injects himself with a serum and transforms, trying to attack Jen who is saved by Emil, just as Titania raids the place. Suddenly Bruce also arrives and decides to attack Abomination.

She Hulk’s Ending: Jen vs. Marvel Studios

Jen breaks the fourth wall, she’s not happy with how things are going. Thus opens the Disney+ menu and decides to move from his series to Marvel Assembled, a show about how MCU products are created. The woman breaks into the writers’ room, who are even talking about the second season of the showShe-Hulk complains about the season finale, and so she decides to go talk to Kevin Feige. Obviously, security tries to block Jen, but she arrives in a huge room full of videos from the MCU movies and there she meets KevinKEVIN to be precise is the artificial intelligence that makes decisions inside the Studios. The robot tells her to transform, because CGI costs too much, but to do it off camera, to further cut costs, as the team is now working on another project (Black Panther music is heard in the background).

Jen wants her series to go the way she wants, but KEVIN doesn’t, and so the lawyer, star of the legal dramedy, asks to be allowed to make her final speech. The woman asks to cancel Todd’s transformation, as the plot is very similar to that of the super soldier serum, and KEVIN executes. She also demands that the Hulk be eliminated from deus ex machina, but KEVIN explains that he must come back to explain what she was doing on Sakaar. With his arrival, they had to introduce… nothing Jen asks to be put “in the movie”. Abomination instead must take its blame, while Daredevil may even return … Jen even asks when we will see the X-Men!

Jen has managed to undo the electrifying finale that KEVIN came up with, and while she wants to talk about season 2, she must go back to her finale. KEVIN tells her that she can go back to her series, but that they will see each other again… ON THE BIG SCREEN! For real? KEVIN dismisses it by saying no… but will it be the truth?

How She-Hulk Ends: The Ending Decided By Jen

So Jen goes back to her series and promises Todd that they will meet again in court. Daredevil also arrives, as requested by the lawyer, and between the two there is a tender exchange. Instead, Emil must return to prison for 10 years, for violation of parole. Matt attends a family lunch with Jen’s very pushy relatives, where Bruce also arrives. He has been on Sakaar and introduced to the group… his son Di him Skaar! However, he does not explain anything about what happened previously, neither why he has a son, nor why he was on the planet seen in Thor Ragnarok.

Skaar in the MCU

For the Marvel Cinematic Universe audience, this is big news, as the Hulk has never had a romance in the movies. He only had an almost platonic relationship with Natasha Romanoff, before she sacrificed herself in Avengers Infinity War. How is it possible that the Hulk had a son like Skaar, who also has the appearance of Bruce when transformed? We currently don’t know how his birth will be justified, but we remind readers that there are several holes in the history of the Hulk, such as the time frame between the Infinity War and Endgame. How can we forget the years that pass between the Age of Ultron and Thor Ragnarok?

Skaar in the Marvel Comics

Who is Skaar in the comicsSkaar makes his first canonical appearance in the War World Hulk comics and is the son of the Hulk and Caiera, conceived on the planet SakaarAfter the Hulk departs from the planet, Skaar emerges from a cocoon with the appearance of a human preteen. His childhood is tormented, due to the death of his mother and the resentment he feels towards his father, who has abandoned him. The boy trains on the planet together with monsters and becomes strong, but also very intelligent. Like his mother and brother, Hiro-Kala possesses Ancient Power, and this allows him to absorb the energy of a planet, hardening his body and being able to control the soil.

The introduction of the character, already anticipated by some rumors, could confirm the arrival of a film inspired in part by both Planet Hulk and World War Hulk. The plot of the two stories could be merged into a new Marvel Cinematic Universe story, giving the Hulk his first starring film. According to other rumors, Skaar’s story will instead continue in Captain America: New World Order. Unlikely, however, is a return of him in the eventual season 2 of She-Hulk.
