The character posters of the protagonists of the second season of Shadow and Bone are available online, arriving on the streaming platform on March 16th. The series is set in a world divided by war where an orphan named Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Lei) has unleashed an extraordinary power that may be the key to ridding the nation of her. A terrible threat looms and Alina decides to put her life on hold to train and become part of an elite military group made up of soldiers with magical powers, called Grisha. Here she tries to control her power over her and discovers that allies and enemies may be the same and nothing in this fabulous world is what it seems. It will take more than magic to survive. Eric Heisserer (Arrival, Bird Box) is the showrunner of the series, which is filmed in Budapest. 21 Laps Entertainment produces the series; Leigh Bardugo also serves as executive producer, alongside Pouya Shahbazian (for New Leaf Literary & Media), and Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen, and Josh Barry.

The fantasy series is based on the Grishaverse novels by Leigh Bardugo, who commented on the news of the renewal as follows: “I’ve been writing the Grishaverse for almost ten years now, and so I’m excited about the idea of continuing this adventure. There are so many places that we have yet to discover; I can’t wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, princes and privateers that make this a fantastic world to explore. It will be truly magical to see our talented cast expand”.
The new characters of Shadow and Bone Season 2 are an additional attraction for fans. Patrick Gibson seems to shine as Nikolai, proving to be bold, charming and ferocious in equal measure, and there are other fan-favorite characters from the books to come to the series as well, including Tolya (Lewis Tan), Tamar (Anna Leong Brophy) and Wylan (Jack Wolfe). Amita Suman, Danielle Galligan, Sujaya Dasgupta, Daisy Head, and Luke Pasqualino will return, who should have more space in the new season.
