Scream VI: Character Posters Out Now, Allied Against Ghostface Arrive

Paramount Pictures has released a veritable avalanche of character posters for Scream VI (Scream 6), the next chapter in the long-running slasher franchise starring Courteney Cox. The posters look like a throwback to the early days of the franchise, with characters wielding giant knives with Ghostface reflected. The film, produced by the directors of Ready or Not and Scream Radio Silence, is the first in the series not to feature Neve Campbell, who withdrew before production began, reportedly due to a pay dispute. Only Cox remains from the original film after David Arquette was excluded from the previous chapter. The film takes Ghostface to Manhattan, where the masked killer will make his way through the Big Apple… but he is not above using other weapons as well, as revealed in the opening trailer.

A prominent scene in that trailer showed Ghostface chasing young victims around a bodega. There, the owner takes out a gun, which the killer manages to steal. After shooting the owner, Ghostface stalks the shop with his shotgun in hand. The new Scream will see the return of newcomers from the fifth film, Melissa Barrera (Sam), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy), Mason Gooding (Chad) and Jenna Ortega (Tara), as well as Hayden Panettiere (Kirby) from Scream 4 and the newcomers Dermot Mulroney and Tony Revolori. Barrera recently spoke on the 20 Questions On Deadline podcast (via ScreenRant) and revealed when the sixth film will take place.

“No, it’s not a big-time jump at all. It’s almost directly after the last movie. Basically, the elapsed time between films is the elapsed time in Scream time,” explained Barrera. The new film will also leave Woodsboro and head to New York, which Barrera recently called a “more mortifying” setting.
