Scream 5 Story Line: What is Scream 5 About?

A first rumor on Twitter said that: “RUMOR: ‘ SCREAM 5 ‘ will follow a character named Sarah, a woman with a troubled past who returns to her hometown to find out who has been committing a series of vicious crimes. Other character names include Teresa, Ryan, Annie, Leyla, Maud, Will, and Cal. (Source: Ryan Cherry on YT)”.

While the official synopsis explains: “A new installment of the horror franchise ‘Scream’ will follow a woman who returns to her hometown to try to discover who has been committing a series of heinous crimes.” With all this, we can assume that Sidney Prescott returned to town to try to identify the new murderer and prevent more teenagers from dying in the process.

Director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin (from Ready or Not) said that “The movie has a lot to do with the current state of horror, but one of the things we talked about is that unlike when the original started, the horror was on a downward path and It wasn’t that popular anymore: people outside the mainstream were still into it, but the mainstream had given up on horror; obviously that’s not where we are now. The horror is as big as anything else right now, so it’s fun to approach it from that angle. But also, at the same time, for us fear is scary, and it always will be. If something is really scary, it will be fucking scary and that’s our goal. And that’s something we learned from Wes Craven from the last house on the left. Nightmare on Elm Street was probably one of the first horror movies any of us saw that really freaked us out in a major way seeing that when we were kids. When it comes to that kind of thing, I think one of our main goals is to make sure that scary is scary and not try to be nice about it.
