SAG Awards 2024 Winners: From Oppenheimer to The Bear, All the Winners Big Snub Barbie

The winners of the SAG Awards 2024 have been announced, the 30th edition of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, a recognition awarded annually by the Screen Actors Guild (a US union representing more than 150,000 film and television actors) for the best performances by actors who are members of the same association. As you will all remember, the American actors’ union (also known as SAG-AFTRA) has recently left behind a decidedly stormy period, characterized by the strike that began in July last year and only ended in November. The awards ceremony took place on the night of February 24-25 at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California, and was streamed live on Netflix. Actress, singer, and director Barbra Streisand was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.

SAG Awards 2024 Winners

Oppenheimer won the award for best ensemble cast in a motion picture at the 2024 SAG Awards, the Screen Actors Guild’s annual honor for outstanding performances by members of the actors’ union. The film also won two other awards, for lead actor Cillian Murphy and supporting actor Robert Downey Jr. The Best Actress in a Leading Role award went to Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, while Da’vine Joy Randolph was named Best Actress in a Supporting Role for The Holdovers. On the TV side, The Bear won three awards, including Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Jeremy Allen White won the award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, while Ayo Edebiri won Best Female Actress in the same category. Another awards favorite, Succession, was named Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, but lost in the other categories in which it was nominated.

Beef won two awards: one given to Ali Wong for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Movie or Limited Series, while Steven Yeun won the Male Actor award in the same category. A surprised – and, he confessed, drunk – Pedro Pascal won best male actor in a drama series for The Last of Us, beating out three actors from Succession. Another surprise winner was Elizabeth Debicki, who won Best Actress in a Drama Series, for The Crown. The awards are voted on by SAG-AFTRA members in film and television categories, including stunt performances. The winners of the stunt categories were announced during the red carpet preshow (the awards went to The Last of Us and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One). The Screen Actors Guild Award for Lifetime Achievement was awarded to Barbra Streisand.
