The 7th and final season of Riverdale Season 7 has just won its first images! This Friday (16), Entertainment Weekly released unpublished photos of the production, which will be released in 2023. It is worth remembering that the new episodes will take place in the 50s after the characters go to the past. After long years, the series finally announced that the 7th season would be the last. Therefore, the expectation of fans is high for the return. This Friday (16), Entertainment Weekly released, exclusively, the first images of the new season, which takes place in the 50s.
In addition, journalists had a chat with creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who gave some spoilers of what we will be able to see in the last season of Riverdale. Riverdale Season 7 Takes Place In The 1950s
In the last released season, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) prevents the destruction of Riverdale by a comet, however, in return, she sends the city back to the 50s. Therefore, the characters return to High School – which had said goodbye in the 5th season, after a time jump of 7 years.
“I’m really grateful that we didn’t destroy [school] sets. The concept for Season 7 is both unexpected and completely inevitable,” creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tells EW. He also explains that there was a certain uneasiness as the characters got older and, therefore, brought back the High School element: “It didn’t feel right at the time”, he completes.
Riverdale Creator Spoilers Final Season
Already in the 50s, the character of Jughead (Cole Sprouse) is the only one who remembers the time travel and the life that the cast led. In fact, the creator revealed in the interview that the 1st episode of the 7th season is focused on the protagonist: “We see him asking himself: ‘What do I do with the fact that I’m the only one who remembers our lives before the comet?’ is resolved in the first episode”.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also gives more spoilers of what is to come: “Something very, very dark happens at the end of the 2nd episode”, teases the showrunner, who already advances that the new season will not have specific villains.
