Resident Evil: Netflix’s Live-Action Series Has Been Canceled After One Season
The Resident Evil series was canceled by Netflix after just one season. The project inspired by the famous video game will therefore greet viewers after only eight episodes, which debuted on streaming on July 14. Resident Evil: The series did not get a very positive reception from critics, stopping at 55% of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and only reaching 27% of appreciation from the public. In the week of its debut, the show had recorded 72 million hours viewed in streaming, coming in second place in the ranking of the most viewed titles behind the fourth season of Stranger Things. In the second week, the title had slipped to third place in the standings and third from the Top 10.

The Resident Evil series was set in the year 2036, 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse. Jade Wesker finds herself fighting for survival in a world dominated by insane and infected bloodthirsty creatures. Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, her father’s bond with the Umbrella Corporation and what happened to her sister Billie. Resident Evil cast included Ella Balinska (interpreter of Jade), Lance Reddick, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Turlough Convery, Adeline Rudolph and Connor Gossatti.
