Red Queen Season 2 and 3 (Reina Roja): Will Premiere Its 2nd Season In The Fall?
Prime Video announced this week the completion of filming for the Red Queen Season 3 (Reina Roja), based on ‘Rey Blanco’, the third book in the successful trilogy by renowned author Juan Gómez-Jurado. Additionally, the Amazon-owned platform has confirmed that the second season, based on ‘Black Wolf’, will premiere globally this fall as part of the prime subscription. Netflix and Prime Video have been competing for some time to adapt the greatest literary hits. The most anticipated period series of 2026 on Netflix adapts Jane Austen’s most famous novel, the best adaptation of a novel by Harlan Coben. This Spanish Netflix series and Jose Coronado’s new mystery series on Netflix adapt Arturo Pérez-Reverte. However, it is Prime Video the one with the most successful series based on a Spanish thriller.

The universe Red Queen has spent some time remaining silent to the despair of his fans, but that is over. Prime Video has officially announced what all followers of the literary trilogy of Juan Gómez-Jurado were waiting for: the premiere date of season 2 of the series starring Victoria Luengo and Hovik Keuchkerian. Under the nickname Black Wolf, the second season of Red Queen, she will have to explain what has become of the most intelligent woman in the world, Antonia Scott (Luengo), and his fellow detective, Jon Gutierrez (Keuchkerian), after they faced one of the most complex cases of their career with the murder of the fake Álvaro Trueba and the kidnapping of Carla Ortiz. This will make them both travel to Marbella in new episodes that will arrive on the Amazon streaming platform at autumn of this same year, as reported by the company itself.
Red Queen Season 2 and 3: Story Plot
With an IQ of 242, Antonia Scott is officially the smartest person on Earth. Her intelligence earned her the ‘Red Queen’ of a secret and experimental police project, but what seemed like a gift became a curse, and she ended up losing everything. When the son of a powerful tycoon is found grotesquely murdered in his mansion, and the daughter of Spain’s richest man is kidnapped, the Red Queen organization sets out. Mentor, Antonia’s former boss, turns to Jon Gutiérrez, a temperamental Basque police officer about to be expelled from the force, to reactivate Antonia. The twisted game of cat and mouse in which Jon and Antonia find themselves involved during their investigation will also help them discover that they admire and complement each other almost as much as they irritate each other. Reina Roja is a disturbing and different thriller, in which the city of Madrid is another protagonist, and which combines the urgency and action of the investigation with the juicy and humorous chemistry of its two protagonists. Vicky Luengo and Hovik Keuchkerian play their protagonists.
In his second season, Antonia Scott – our Red Queen and the most intelligent person on the planet – and Jon Gutiérrez – her squire, a temperamental gay police officer – must solve a crime related to the Russian mafia on the Costa del Sol, following the suspicious disappearance of Lola, the wife of a gangster who lives in constant flight. Lola is also pursued by Black Wolf, a hired assassin who will test Antonia’s intelligence. Antonia and Jon will find themselves in the middle of a web of corruption and conspiracy that extends much further than they could have imagined, while their relationship is on a tightrope, due to a chain of secrets and mistrust. At the same time, Mentor tracks the suspicious deaths of other Red Queens throughout Europe, a situation that could endanger the lives of our two protagonists. The new season of Reina Roja is a thriller full of action and suspense, set in the city of Malaga, where nothing is what it seems.
In it, Adriana Torrebejano plays Lola Moreno, a mysterious woman who hides a big secret, and who is married to Yuri, a dim-witted gangster deeply in love and who would do anything for her. Beka Lemonjava, it is this Yuri, the treasurer of Aslan Orlov’s clan, a powerful and intimidating man. Feodor Atkine plays Orlov, a legend of brutality in decline, who fears that his position as head of operations on the Costa del Sol will end up being stolen. Silvia Abascal and Mauricio Morales are Inspectors Romero and Belgrano, two police officers who have been fighting for years against that thousand-headed monster that is organized crime, and who are increasingly fed up. Javiera Sky plays Black Wolf, a hitwoman in the service of the mafia who is as cryptic as she is relentless.
For its part, ‘Red Queen 3’ raises the stakes to the maximum with more action, more tension, and more risk than ever. Back in Madrid, Antonia Scott and Jon Gutiérrez face their most dangerous challenge: a lethal game of ingenuity orchestrated by Mr. White, which will force them to solve a series of impossible crimes in a frenetic race against time. With the lives of those they love most at stake, the two protagonists must break all limits —personal and professional— in a large-scale chess game where nothing is as it seems. Koldo Serra (La casa de papel) is the one who has directed these two seasons, with the production of Focus Studios and Dopamine, with Josep Amorós as executive producer, along with Koldo Serra himself, Pere Roca, and Helena Medina, who also serves as scriptwriter alongside Salvador Perpigna.
Red Queen Season 2 is Coming to Prime Video this Fall?
It’s about ‘Red Queen’, the adaptation of the Juan Gómez-Jurado trilogy that has become one of the great phenomena of recent Spanish thrillers. The fiction, which began as one of Prime Video’s big bets in Spain, continues to expand its universe with a third installment based on ‘White King’, the closing of the literary saga. Meanwhile, the second season, based on ‘Black Wolf’, hasn’t arrived on the platform yet. Its premiere is scheduled for this fall, but the fact that the third is already filmed completely changes the perception of the project. It is no longer just a series with continuity, but a story thought from the beginning as a complete story.
As for the plot, the new installment raises the tension to the maximum. Antonia Scott and Jon Gutiérrez return to Madrid to face their most complex case to date. On this occasion, the enemy is Mr. White, a character who poses a much more dangerous intellectual game, forcing the protagonists to solve a series of crimes that seem impossible. Everything happens against the clock, with the lives of the people closest to the protagonists at stake.
The main cast remains, with Victoria Luengo and Hovik Keuchkerian at the helm, consolidating one of the most recognizable couples in current Spanish television thrillers. At his side, names like Eduardo Noriega, Alex Brendemühl, and Vicenta N’Dongo return. Behind the camera, the series continues to focus on a solid team. The direction of this third season is carried out by Koldo Serra, while the script maintains the direct involvement of those responsible for the project, ensuring that the adaptation remains faithful to the spirit of the novels. And that is key, because one of the great strengths of ‘Red Queen’ has always been precisely her ability to transfer the tension and rhythm of books to the screen.
The Third Season of ‘Red Queen’
The good news doesn’t come alone: Prime Video has also confirmed that the filming of White King is over; that is, the third season of the series created by Amaya Muruzabal and Salvador Perpigna based on Gómez-Jurado’s novels, it is ready to enter the post-production phase and hit the screens possibly much closer to the end of the second than the two and a half years that have been expected Black Wolf. In this third installment, Antonia Scott receives a message and knows very well from whom, but also that it is an impossible game to win. Although she is not one of those who lose. Running away from reality for so long did not go very well, and now he will know that he will have to face reality head-on, but also that this final battle could mean losing everything and everyone.
