The new A forces the protagonists to commit brutal acts to prevent the villain from destroying their lives However after the girls resist committing any of the acts of revenge, -A decides to forgive them. It is revealed in the final chapter that the mothers of the protagonists had a direct relationship with Angela’s death. In the final act, it is revealed that Principal Clanton is the mastermind behind the Millwood murders, the docent is actually Angela Waters’ father, and he seeks revenge for what happened to him.
Clanton had a relationship with Rose, Angela’s mother, who became pregnant, but his family opposed the relationship. For this reason, his twin children (Angela and Archie) are born without a father present. Angela attended Millwood High School while Clanton served as principal, but Rose kept Archie home because his face had a blemish. Thus, Archie’s existence remained a secret from the rest of the town.
Angela was abused by Thomas Beasley, the current Sheriff of Millwood and father of Karen, who at the time was dating Imogen’s mother, Davie Adams. Davie and her friends refused to believe Angela’s claims against Beasley and ignored her existence. After a falling out with her mother, Angela attends a rave party that Davie invited her to under the guise of reconciling. However, it was all a pretext to keep bothering Angela, which leads her to suicide.
Along with his son Archie, Clanton creates a plan to punish all those responsible for the death of his daughter, his plan is to kill the mothers of the protagonists and blame Sheriff Beasley. In the end, the young women manage to save their mothers and defeat the villains. However, Archie manages to escape making it clear that the story is far from over.
