Planet Of The Dead: Sequel of Army of The Dead Netflix Film Release Date? Cast and Story
After briefly stepping away from the cinema following a personal tragedy, film stylist Zack Snyder returned to the fray with a resounding burst in 2021. Not only the executives of Warner Bros. gave Snyder the go-ahead to revisit the world of DC via Zack Snyder’s Justice League movie which has been re-cut but Netflix bosses have also shelled out significant sums for the director’s latest original production.
This is the zombie-robbing action film Army of the Dead which debuted on Netflix in May 2021, quickly becoming one of the streamer’s most viewed original films. If you haven’t seen Army of the Dead yet, it stars Dave Bautista as Scott Ward. A former military specialist who leads a team of mercenaries through zombie-infested Las Vegas to collect $ 200 million from a casino vault before the whole city is destroyed. As you would expect, things did not go as planned.
Snyder left the door open for a potential sequel, however. And Netflix has already given the green light for the Army Of The Dead sequel. As Snyder confirmed in a recent interview, this sequel will be called Planet of the Dead. Here’s everything we know about it so far.
Release Date For Planet Of The Dead aka Army Of The Dead 2?
In July 2021, a sequel to Army Of The Dead was officially confirmed with the return of Zack Snyder. An animated series is also in the works, titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, which traces the events of the early stages of the zombie epidemic in Las Vegas with characters from Snyder’s film. Planet Of The Dead will be the name of the Army Of The Dead sequel.
As of October 2021, Planet of the Dead is still in development, which means it hasn’t gone into production yet. We have to imagine that the production will be huge and take a long time for such a film. We believe the Planet Of The Dead release date should be set for the end of 2022 on Netflix .
What Can We Expect From The Film? Spoilers!
Snyder and his creative team seem to have a pretty clear plan for Planet of the Dead. Vanderohe was bitten by a zombie and was on his way to Mexico City at the end of Army Of The Dead. Everything therefore suggests that he will be the new Alpha zombie in the sequel. Likewise, it’s a safe bet that the global epidemic will begin when his plane lands south of the border. As for Kate and Dieter, we’ll have to wait and see what Snyder has in store for them, if any. Globalization will open up a legitimate world of storytelling possibilities for Snyder and his company, and we can’t wait to see where they take this thrilling undead adventure.
