Peacemaker: Release Date and Cast What We Know About The Suicide Squad Sequel Series

The Suicide Squad post-credit scene is directly connected to the new John Cena series.

Peacemaker is one of the interesting characters who joined the Squadron Suicide of James Gunn and post credit movie scene could be connected to what’s going to happen to him once his own series debuts on HBO Max. Marvel isn’t the only studio bringing its comic book characters to the small screen. After the success of series like WandaVision and Loki (which will have a second season) DC will get on the trend with a series inspired by the character of Peacemaker and it seems that it is a sequel to what happened in The Suicide Squad.

Peacemaker

The Peacemaker story will continue to be told in an 8-part limited series (directed by James Gunn himself) and is said to hit HBO Max in January 2022 (along with many other upcoming DC movies) and it might not be the only DC series as Gunn created multiple characters for his new movie and revealed that he wants everyone to have their own story.

Peacemaker The Trailer

The first trailer for the series was revealed during DC FanDome, where we got to see more of John Cena’s “mascot”, his new crime-fighting gear, and even a very… interesting dance.

The Suicide Squad post-credit scene

The movie featured a special scene in which we can see that, after being shot in the neck by Bloodsport, Peacemaker is still alive. Amanda Waller, who is the true great villain of the DCEU, rescued him and saw to it that he was given the necessary care to be able to recover. The idea, apparently, was to get him ready so that he could fight again in the name of “freedom.”

What is The Peacemaker Series About?

The series is definitely going to let us know more about Peacemaker , his story, his motives, and perhaps a possible new mission that Waller is preparing for him, which could be the reason why he rescued him in the first place.

On the character, James Gunn said that “ Peacemaker has a very clear value system that I find very interesting. In plan: ‘I want peace no matter how many men, women and children I have to kill to get it.’ It seems like it doesn’t make sense, but it actually makes a lot of sense. And you see in John’s performance that he’s not comfortable with it… and that I felt was the seed of an eight-episode series. “

There are 8 episodes around 45 minutes each in this series, so surely we will be able to discover many secrets of the character. Gunn also said that the series will touch on the issue of political conflicts that are being experienced in the world today, although not much more is known about what we are going to see or what will happen to the character of Cena. Could the series be a way to introduce the third Suicide Squad movie? It is not ruled out, but for that, the new Guardians of the Galaxy would have to pass first, which opens in 2023.

Characters and Cast

John Cena will obviously be playing Peacemaker on the show, and following what happened in The Suicide Squad’s post-credit scene we may see Amanda Waller (who is played by Viola Davis) again.

In addition, Gunn already anticipated some characters that could appear. “Each character is going to have their own story. So there are the six main characters in Peacemaker: Leota Adebayo, played by Danielle Brooks; Emilia Harcourt [Amanda Waller’s right-hand man in control of Task Force X], played by Jennifer Holland, Vigilante [my gosh], who will be shaped by Freddie Strom a, Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), and John Bursars (Steve Agee). Everything revolves around these six characters. “

When it Premieres?

The first 3 chapters of Peacemaker arrive on HBO Max on January 16, 2022, and after that we will be able to see one every week.
