Peacemaker Episode 5 Review: It Is Still Explosive The Humor Continues To Work Very Well Thanks To Some Delusional Dialogue

John Cena doesn’t even stop for dinner in of Peacemaker episode 5 that condenses all the virtues of this HBO Max series. There is humour, action, mystery and some drama in a chapter that flies by. At this point, it is more than clear that Peacemaker has been one of the first surprises of the year. He has been able to adapt the crazy spirit of James Gunn’s films to the series format.

The best thing is that this of Peacemaker episode 5 (out of a total of 8, let’s remember) continues to maintain the good rhythm of the first chapters and there are even parts, such as the treatment of some characters, in which it goes further. If in episode four the most dramatic facet gained some weight, this time we return to recover the doses of crazy action, which is where this HBO Max series shines the most.

John Cena shines in these moments in which his lapidary phrases and his poses make us, as spectators, have a great time. But the rest of the team also their moments to show off. The way in which we are discovering the facet of each one and of all of them as a group is very satisfactory. Of course, all of this is sprinkled with music and, this time, explicit mentions of Glam Metal groups and “music lovers” between Hardcore, Pacificador and company. There’s also some general reference to the DC Universe, stay tuned…

But you know that we feel devotion for Vigilante . Although we would have liked his hair to be loosened more in the parts of distributing tow, here the character of Freddie Stroma stands out for the dialogues that he maintains with his companions, totally absurd. Attentive to the moment chihuahua… It is fair to say that, although the script for this chapter is also by James Gunn (and it shows), the direction is in charge of Rosemary Rodriguez, who already has extensive experience with episodes of Jessica Jones or The Walking Dead . The assembly and the plans of this episode are the best of the series, for now.

The side of mystery (who are the Butterflies ? Who is in on it? What role is the White Dragon going to play in all of this?) is also cooking little by little, in the background, so that almost without realizing it keep us hooked to the plot. That is one of the main virtues of this television series: that it does not seem to slow down at any time. In other similar products, it seems that we have to “swallow” filler parts to be compensated with the cliffhanger at the end of the episode.

In the Pacifier, the cliffhanger resource is also there , but it is just one more part of a continuous show, which knows how to play with the ridiculous, the comic and the shocking in equal parts. It may be that some dramatic parts do not interest the audience so much or that, once again, the discussions about music seem a bit too forced, but as a whole everything is so enjoyable that the more than forty minutes of the episode are spent as if they were 15.

We will not tell you anything else so that you can discover the surprises (some, very crazy) of episode 5 of Peacemaker for yourselves. We will conclude this review of the episode by saying that, for now, the John Cena series is being one of the most entertaining shows on HBO Max , probably because he is not afraid to be who he is, a bit like Chris himself.
