Outer Banks Season 4 Part 1 Ending Explained: What’s the Secret About JJ and Who Killed Wes?

The Pogues visit Goat Island to hear a proposal from Wes Genrette, who explains that he is a descendant of Francis Genrette, the British officer who captured Captain Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard. He also explains that because he also murdered Teach’s wife Elizabeth, a curse haunts his family. It caused the death of his daughter Larissa and now threatens Wes’ life. The wealthy old man believes that if they recover Elizabeth’s amulet, the curse will be broken. Although the Pogues don’t believe this story, they accept the deal and organize the expedition. Thanks to a contact with JJ’s, he obtains the exact location of the Adventurer ship and they dive into the depths of the sea. When they find the mysterious object, they discover that they are not the only ones interested in it.

Another man in the water attacks Kiara and JJ, who manage to get out alive, but they have to spend a few hours in the hospital, where they meet Lightner (Rigo Sanchez), who is also looking for Elizabeth’s necklace. Meanwhile, Wes Genrette is found dead on his property with marks on his neck similar to those of a body found on the beach. Are they related? When Sheriff Shoupe questions Larissa Genrette’s widowed husband Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), he singles out the Pogues as suspects. Meanwhile, real estate agent Hollis Robinson (Brianna Brown) seeks out Rafe Cameron (Drew Starkey) to offer him a place as a buyer for Wes’s property. Although Ward’s son has doubts about the deal, his girlfriend Sofia (Fiona Palomo) convinces him. Chandler offers to go along with Wes’ deal, but the Outer Banks cast decides to do their own investigation. Pope overhears a conversation between Lightner and Dalia (Pollyanna McIntosh) and discovers that Elizabeth’s necklace leads to the Blue Crown and a treasure hidden at Charleston’s Half Moon Battery.

Who Are JJ’s Real Parents?

After receiving a posthumous letter from Wes, JJ splits up with the group, who heads to Charleston, where Blackbeard is said to have hidden his treasure. Kiara is behind, so she can wait for her boyfriend there. JJ, however, finds himself having to track down his father, Luke, who is hiding from the police in his friend’s house. When he finds him, he asks him to explain Wes’ letter. And then Luke confesses to JJ that he is not his biological father. His biological father is, instead, Chandler Groff. As Wes explains in episode 2, Larissa Genrette – Groff’s wife – died a week after seeing Elizabeth’s ghost. Albatross was the name of the boat she drowned in, and it is thought that her son drowned with her. But in reality, that child is JJ, and he is still alive. His biological parents are, therefore, Lariss and Groff. Luke raised JJ as if he were his own son, but it is unclear why Groff did not take care of him. The woman JJ thought was his mother was Luke’s girlfriend at the time. Also, Groff could be the person who killed Wes.

Why Groff Works With Robinson?

In the Outer Banks Season 4 Part 1 finale, it is revealed that Hollis Robinson and Chandler Groff know each other. The former, a real estate agent, is introduced as an old friend of Ward Cameron. He approaches Rafe during a party related to the purchase of Goat Island from the Genrettes. Hollis wants Rafe to make a deal for 400 thousand dollars. The latter accepts. But Hollis is scamming Rafe. This idea is confirmed when in the finale it is revealed that Robinson is working with Groff. Of course, in Part 2 of Season 4, more details about this relationship will be revealed. Groff wants to conquer the island and Hollis is helping him, that much is clear.

John B and Cleo Don’t Kill Lightner

During this first part of season 4, it comes out that Lightner is leading his men in search of The Blue Crown, Blue Crown, with a woman, Dalia. After taking Elisabeth’s amulet, the two go to Charleston, followed by John B., Sarah, Pope, and Cleo. Unlike the four, the couple manages to recover the scroll that Barbarossa had hidden and they leave. It is not known what is inside the scroll, but it is certainly something important. Cleo tries to kill Lightner but fails. John B, not wanting to become like his father, eventually decides to let Lightner and all the clues go to find Blackbeard’s treasure.

Outer Banks Season 4 Part 1 Ending Mean?

But before he can do anything with that information, Lightner kidnaps Cleo and threatens to kill her to get the amulet. Thanks to the help of his old friend Terrance, who is part of Dahlia’s crew, Cleo manages to survive. When Pope returns to Pogueland 2.0, a confrontation ensues that ends with Terrance dead and Lightner stealing the relic. The sheriff shows up at the worst possible time for the Pogues, so they have no choice but to hide Terrance’s body while Shoupe interrogates JJ. Later, the body is dumped at sea and Cleo vows revenge. Meanwhile, JJ receives a mysterious letter from Wes that leads him to his father Luke, who claims to not understand Genrette’s message. The police show up, so the son must help his father escape.

Do the Pogues Find Blackbeard’s Treasure?

JJ has disappeared leaving only a note, so Kiara is left to wait for him while the rest head to Charleston to search the catacombs of a church. Pope and Sarah offer to go down into the depths, but before she can make a move, Lightner and his boss Dalia show up, open the tomb of Sam Bellamy, Teach’s officer, and take a scroll. At the end of the fourth season of “Outer Banks,” Pope and Sarah are trapped in the catacombs as the water rises higher and higher; Chloe is attacked by Lightner but is saved by the appearance of other people; and John B. chases them and points a gun at them, but stops when he remembers his father.

What is Albatross and What Does it Have to Do With JJ?

While hiding from the police, Luke reveals that Albatross was the name of the boat Larissa Genrette died on years ago. He also claims that Larissa was JJ’s real mother, which would explain Wes’s fixation with him and the letter he sent her. Therefore, JJ’s father is Chandler, who is related to Hollis and the purchase of Wes’s property. Is he related to her death? What will happen in the final chapters?
