After last week’s double episode that opened the new season, Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 3 slows down the tumultuous pace of the first two episodes a bit and begins to calmly dig into the new mystery that forms the heart of this third season. Just seven days ago we witnessed the construction of the skeleton of this new chapter, with the death of Ben, which occurred at the Arconia in a moment following the poisoning on stage, and the incipit of the third season gave viewers so much material to metabolize, for which this third installment fulfills the task of pulling the strings of the story for a moment, of tidying up and directing the evolution of the plot, which promises, as in the past, to unravel through different ways.

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 3 is an extremely pleasant episode, with a slightly wider scope, therefore more relaxed, but still capable of giving great moments. Once again, the sumptuous Meryl Streep dominates and clearly, there is no news in this sense, but it is always good to underline the invaluable contribution that the actress is giving to the series. The passage in which Loretta sings the nanny’s lullaby from Oliver’s musical is of crazy intensity and is the culmination of an episode that makes the plot take only small steps forward, but which disseminates the narration with ideas to be explored in the course of the next few weeks. Starting with the inevitable swirl of suspects that characterizes the beginning of the investigation.

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 3 Review: The Story

The first two episodes immediately led to an arrest, but Mable and Charles, avid consumers like us of crime products, know well, also from personal experience, that the prime suspect is never the murderer. As usual, the investigations of the trio, which for the moment are only those of the duo since, as we will soon see, Oliver is busy with something completely different, begin to focus on a series of suspects, who gradually season will be denied and re-evaluated. It starts with Kimber, the first great suspect of this third season of the series on Disney+. The actress may have had several reasons to kill Ben, such as the existence of a failed relationship and to drop suspicion on her there is the question of a handkerchief, which made Charles prick up his antennae and direct attention. The woman is, towards the end of Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 3, presented in a negative light, put in competition with Loretta, and indeed moved towards carrying out some act of sabotage to take the stage. At the moment, therefore, the focus is on Kimber, suspect number one, but she too first to end up in the swirl of suspects, so most likely innocent.

Right now, he’s not participating in the investigation and the game of suspects Oliver, still reeling from everything that happened in the first two installments. The poisoning first and then the actual death of Ben has affected his show and the director is trying to reinvent himself, in order not to miss this last opportunity to revive his career, with time pressing also due to his health conditions. The constancy and strength with which Oliver tries to pursue his goal, which is the realization of the musical, is certainly enviable, but at the same time, it shows the less pleasant sides of the character, such as when he claims contractual obligations of Loretta in a decidedly regrettable scene. Also far from Charles, if not for work reasons, and above all from Mable, even banned from his show, the character played by Martin Short at this moment remains on the sidelines of the investigation, at the center of other plots, but outside the main one and we are all waiting for him to rejoin the making of the podcast alongside his great friends.

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 3 Review and Analysis

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 3, “Grab Your Hankies,” is a solid installment in the show’s third season. It introduces some new characters and plot threads, while also further developing the relationships between the core trio of Charles, Mabel, and Oliver. The episode opens with Charles, Mabel, and Oliver still reeling from the death of Ben. They’re determined to find his killer, but they’re also struggling to come to terms with his death. Charles is especially haunted by Ben’s final words to him: “I’m in danger.” Meanwhile, a new character is introduced: Tobert, a Broadway actor who was Ben’s understudy in the play “Death Rattle Dazzle.” Tobert is immediately suspicious of Charles, Mabel, and Oliver. He seems to know more about Ben’s death than he’s letting on.

While the investigation into Ben’s death takes shape, Only Murders in the Building 3 × 03 also stages various intrigues and above all places the emphasis on some nascent relationships. Already last week, in the first two episodes distributed by Disney+, the existence of a special relationship between Oliver and Loretta was feared, which explodes in this episode, sublimated by the splendid singing performance of the actress and by a triumphant kiss. The director, evidently under stress, is perhaps not showing the best sides of himself, but he always remains extremely genuine and, deep down, he deserves a special person, who in any case is not at all free from suspicions, as basically, no one is. at this point in the story. In any case, this relationship between Oliver and Loretta is certainly intense and interesting and important for subsequent developments.

Another relationship that seems to be taking shape, in a much less decisive way, but with great potential, is that between Mable and Tobert, Ben’s documentarian with a rather unusual name. The two find themselves investigating the victim and join forces, after a game of deception that has taken on the traits of a lot of flirting. Like Loretta, Tobert isn’t free from suspicions either, but at the moment he seems to be able to be a great added value to the investigation, a useful resource also to make up for Oliver’s momentary absence. A relationship on which we need to shed light, then, is that between Kimber and Ben, deliberately placed in the spotlight and certainly important for the development of the plot. In the next episode, the actress will almost certainly be her special observer, because Mable and Charles’ investigations will focus on her, so we will undoubtedly discover something more about the mysteries that surround her.

Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 3 Review: The Last Words

After a double debut episode with an important impact, Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Episode 3 takes its time, because there is a plot to build and unravel for ten episodes and you can’t always run wild. This episode, however, confirms the excellent impressions of a week ago and accentuates the traits introduced in the first two episodes, such as this season’s multimedia, which focuses on the theater, now moving to the musical, accentuating the scenic patina that surrounds the story. We have yet to get to the heart of the story, that’s clear, but the series on Disney +continues to convince more and more, week after week, and continues to show off its great ability to set up a mystery that is always interesting and full of ideas.
