One Piece Red: What Does The New Trailer Tell Us? Uta, The Daughter of Shanks The Red!

The first official teaser trailer of ONE PIECE RED, the next film dedicated to the manga by Eiichiro Oda, has been released a few hours ago. After the Mugiwara designs in ONE PIECE RED and a mysterious character in the official ONE PIECE RED posters had been revealed in recent days, we can finally take a first look at the film released on August 6 in Japanese cinemas. ONE PIECE RED is particularly awaited by fans for the clear references to the character of Shanks the Red. The film itself should give us a general smattering of the real abilities of the Emperor, who should soon go into action in the manga, now almost in its final narrative arc. So we just have to analyze the trailer and grasp some extra details!

One Piece Red: Uta, The daughter of Shanks The Red!

The One Piece: RED trailer begins with the Toei logo and a flashback in an unknown location. Shanks talks to a very young Uta, telling her that despite being far away she will always remain his daughter Di lei; the scene suddenly changes to a desperate and weeping Uta, facing something we do not see, probably Shanks’ ship that has just sailed. This first block ends with the words “original author and general producer Eiichiro Oda” further confirming that the film comes directly from the sensei’s hand.

A beautiful full-screen Uta and his name screamed by our Luffy kick off a second block with several interesting frames. First of all we are told “her name is Uta, the greatest singer in the world” and immediately after a running Luffy attacks the screen with what should be the Gomu Gomu no Gigant Pistol. The rhythm of the trailer becomes more frenetic: we still see Uta during various performances, the words “his voice”, a splendid image of an island-stage that seems completely crystallized (we do not yet know, however, if it is a matter of a real island) and the unpublished character Gordon. Below appears Akainu who furiously destroys his cigar, Bepo with a luminous sign dedicated to Uta together with his captain Trafalgar Law, Kobi and Helmeppo in civilian clothes in the audience during a performance and Bartolomeo with the word Uta literally on his forehead.

With our protagonist who apparently screams by activating a power of her, we are shown the second part of the previous wording: “the world will change”. In the background we hear Luffy speak and warn us thatif Shanks learns what her daughter is doing, she surely won’t be silent. Close-up of Luffy and a Uta crying and from which musical notes rise that fade into the black of the One Piece film RED writing. Interesting detail, which certainly will not have escaped many fans since the announcement of the project: the D has three long scratches which are given a lot of prominence. The third and final block of the trailer picks up the initial flashback. On the rays of the sun that pierce black clouds we hear Shanks tell his daughter that there is no peace or equality in this world. The trailer ends with a smiling Uta and the warning that the film will be released on August 6 in Japan.

First Conclusions on One Piece: RED

This first teaser trailer of One Piece: RED seems to reveal a plot very focused on the figure of Uta, with a Shanks for now only present in flashbacks. The fruit linked to the protagonist has a power linked to her voice, with which she attracts figures of all kinds (we see both pirates and members of the Navy at her concerts, but we do not yet know if and with what purpose). The only fight scene present is Luffy’s attack, but we do not know who it is aimed at and in general we still have no inkling of antagonists, apart from a particularly nervous Akainu. In general, although the plot is slowly forming, the film seems to remain in that shadow that has characterized it for months, keeping up the hype and the wait for the imminent release. We therefore await further information and perhaps a complete final trailer, which, three months after the official launch, we definitely feel the need.
