ONE PIECE Netflix: First Photos of The Live-Action Series and The Release Date On Netflix

The live-action series of ONE PIECE is shown in the first photos shared on social networks, which anticipate the release of the show on Netflix, expected in the course of 2023. The adaptation of the famous manga by Eiichiro Oda was officially announced in 2020 and shooting began in February last year. Now, however, it seems that the moment of distribution has finally arrived. Netflix tries to make all its users happy by offering all kinds of programs. This also includes the production of anime. Indeed we can find, for example, Gods and Heroes. However, we also had the pleasure of seeing transpositions with flesh and blood actors, such as what happened with Death Note (and soon it will be with Cowboy Bebop). Following this trail, therefore, the streaming platform has decided to order the One Piece live-action TV series.

Let’s try to understand the plot and discover any advances. For the moment, therefore, we do not know the plot of the One-Piece live-action TV series. However, we can assume that it will not differ much from the anime from which it takes inspiration. The story, in fact, follows the adventures of a boy called Monkey D. Luffy. Inspired by his childhood idol, the mighty pirate Red Haired Shanks sets out to find the legendary One-Piece treasure and proclaim himself King of the Pirates. In 1999 the manga was adapted into an anime which, to date, has nearly a thousand episodes and is still airing. To his credit, this work also has 14 films, 38 video games and many soundtracks. There is also a theme park located inside the Tokyo Tower.

In the One Piece poster, we see Luffy wearing his signature straw hat and heading toward the ocean, with his right arm raised to the sky. The other image, however, shows the main characters from behind: the main cast of the film has already been announced and includes Inaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu Nitta (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp) and Taz Skyler (Sanji). The first season of One Piece will consist of ten episodes, for which Steven Maeda served as executive producer.

Previously, Eiichiro Oda had spoken about the casting for the series, praising the production choices in an interview with Comicbook in which he said: “Their faces, the size of their mouths and hands, their aura, the way they their behavior, their voice, their acting skills, their height, the balance of the crew… We decided to choose this cast after many discussions involving people all over the world. These will be our members of the Straw Hat Pirates. It will take a little longer to finalize this series, but we will continue to do our best to offer a product that – we are confident – will be appreciated all over the world”.

Returning to the sphere of animation, in recent months One Piece Film: Red has been distributed in theaters, the work of the master Gorō Taniguchi, was received positively by critics and also by One Piece fans, who are now waiting with great curiosity (but also a pinch of skepticism) the live-action version of their favorite manga.
