One of Us Is Lying Ending Explained
The Season 1 ending of One of Us Is Lying shows us as the police discover the console containing incriminating evidence against Jake in his bedroom and the early murder suspects return to their routine at school. But very quickly, each of them receives a message threatening to reveal what they have done. At the end of Season 1 of One of Us Is Lying, we understand that the original plan was not to let Simon die, but to inject him with an Epi-Pen just in time to save his life, while incriminating the four students who killed him. accompanied by attempted murder.
Although initially a prank, Jake begins to have other plans when Simon tells him that his girlfriend, Addy, is cheating on him. The jealous boyfriend then decides to kill Simon and trap his lying and unfaithful girlfriend. Therefore, even though he agrees to wait outside the detention room and save Simon at the last moment, Jake does the opposite and steals all the epi-pensels from the dispensary, making it impossible to resuscitate Simon.
Jake is therefore indirectly responsible for Simon’s death because he stole the epi-pens which could have saved his life. However, the act of poisoning was actually carried out by Simon himself, who willingly ingested a water-soluble capsule of peanut oil as part of the challenge.
Is Jake Dead?
Through flashbacks, we see that Jake and Simon were childhood friends. The two friends continued to play a perpetual game of defiance in which they bet each other to do outrageous things. Although the two are no longer friends, Jake convinces Simon to make one last dangerous challenge. Unbeknownst to Jake, Simon is recording the conversation they are having on their video game console.
When the four students who are under investigation into Simon’s death learn of the console’s existence from Addy, they plan to steal it from Jake’s room. In the forest, Jake confronts Addy with a gun, but he is attacked first by Cooper, then by Janae. In the ensuing struggle, a bullet goes off and hits Jake. It’s likely he’s dead, but according to reports, it appears Jake got away after the police found the evidence on his computer. It seems that the students secretly buried their dead classmate’s body and then pretended that he fled.
