Nope: Director Jordan Peele Explains The Choice Behind The Lead Actor Daniel Kaluuya

Nope is the new horror feature film directed and written by Jordan Peele (winner, at the 2018 Oscars, with Get Out, of the Award for Best Original Screenplay) which is still, for the most part, shrouded in mystery. The various trailers and photos that have followed one another over the months, in fact, have managed to keep the central theme of the story hidden, in such a way as to guarantee not only the curiosity of fans, but also making the hype behind the project. In all this, the author is not expressing himself too much on the matter, even if, in a recent interview, he made some statements regarding the choice of Daniel Kaluuya as lead actor (he won the 2021 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the film Judas and the Black Messiah) who had previously worked with the filmmaker on Get Out.

Nope: The Director Explains The Choice Behind The Lead Actor

As reported by Screen Rant (via the interview for Empire), here are Peele’s words about it, which explain what elements prompted him to take the aforementioned star.

I wrote Nope with Daniel in mind for the role, a humble man destined for an epic and otherworldly confrontation. Daniel’s skill is on a different level, but it’s his warmth that motivates audiences even during moments of utter insanity. You might be watching a nightmare, but when it’s on screen, at least you have your brother with you, and that’s all you need.

Nope is produced by Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Pictures, starring Barbie FerreiraKeke PalmerSteven YeunMichael WincottDonna Mills and many more. The feature film arrives in Italian cinemas this summer, specifically on July 21, 2022.
