Nightbooks Ending Explained: Is Natacha the Unicorn Girl? Is Natacha Dead or Alive?
In the forest, Yazmin and Alex encountered an evil unicorn who chased them to the witch’s lair, made with gingerbread, cakes and pastries. And soon they fall unconscious. When Alex wakes up, he walks into the pantry and finds Yazmin and Lenore trapped in a candy prison.
Natacha appeared and cleared up the mystery. She informed the children that she had trapped the candy witch and harvested her magic. The mechanical capsule transformed the magical essence into a mist that Natasha inhaled frequently to take advantage of the witch’s magic.
Natacha, or the unicorn girl, has been taken hostage by the original witch who was feasting on children. But Natacha gained his trust and organized his escape by poisoning him. Natacha abducted storytelling children to help her keep the witch in a magical sleep. Alex was going to the boiler room before Natacha removed it, so the elevator stopped on the same floor. Alex and Yazmin ran to the boiler room, and the witch cornered them. To save their lives, Alex improvised a scary story that attracted the witch.
However, Alex stopped at a cliffhanger and pretended he was reading the notebook. He threw the book into the boiler, and a tempted witch set off after him. Taking advantage of the moment, Alex and Yazmin pushed the witch into the boiler and locked her inside. The heat reduced the unholy witch to ashes (as in the climax of Hansel and Gretel).
At the end of Nightbooks, Alex and Yazmin are reunited with their parents. They have remained friends in the human world and have supported each other through thick and thin. However, as the two children discuss the possibility of a happy ending, a visual shows Natacha in her magical apartment.
The body parts of the dolls on the shelf are shaking a bit. This probably suggested that Natasha was going to turn the prisoners into flesh and blood and use them as slaves. She could also seek revenge on Alex and Yazmin. However, a sequel to Nightbooks would translate better.
