Mufasa: The Lion King: Title and Launch Window of The Prequel Of The Disney Live Action
Mufasa: The Lion King is the official title of the new prequel to the famous Disney Classic released in 1994 and the winner of two Oscars for Best Soundtrack to Hans Zimmer and Best Song or Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John and Tim Rice. The project, which is directed by Barry Jenkins (Medicine for Melancholy, If Beale Street Could Talk), winner of an Academy Award for Best Non-Original Screenplay for Moonlight, in 2017 is ideally placed in the same plan that saw The Lion King bring its own in a realistic format, is time taking a step back in terms of the narrated story.
Mufasa: The Lion King Will Arrive in 2024
During a Disney Convention in Anaheim, the D23 was revealed precisely as the official name of this project and, among other things, also the launch window of the film. Mufasa: The Lion King will arrive, specifically, in 2024 even if the precise release date of the product has not yet been reported. As for the plot, we don’t know much yet, but it will certainly focus on the relationship between a young Mufasa and his brother Scar, before the tragic epilogue we know. Writing the realization is Jeff Nathanson (Try to get me, Pirates of the Caribbean – Salazar’s Revenge) who already wrote the script for the remake of The Lion King.
Also during the same event, in addition to this important information about Mufasa: The Lion King, the first official poster of Peter Pan & Wendy was shown, the new live-action feature film inspired by the Disney classic of reference of 1953 and of course the theatrical show namesake by JM Barrie from 1904. The poster in question, which you can find above, shows a fight between the pirates of Captain Hook‘s crew (who has the face of Jude Law) and the group of Peter Pan (played by Alexander Molony) at a distance that allows you to admire clouds at sunset. The image also confirms that the realization will arrive directly on Disney + in 2023. The project is directed by David Lowery (The Old Man & The Gun, The Green Knight) who worked with La Casa di Mickey on his recent adaptation of The Invisible Dragon, dated 2016.
