In the new canon chapter, after the excellent results achieved with the spin-offs Like a Dragon Ishin and Like a Dragon Gaiden, the development team is ready to return in style with the main saga, which is enriched with many new ideas ready to perfect the excellent formula created in 2019. If you add to this a new location with great potential, new characters, and a plot that promises to be of great depth, well, the result can only be positive. No?
Alone in the Dark
We admit it: the constant postponements are making us increase our doubts regarding the health of the project, but we cannot fail to include Alone in the Dark among the most anticipated titles coming out in 2024. The reboot of the glorious survival horror series curated by the Swedish team Pierce Interactive seems to promise very well indeed, thanks to spooky and frightening settings, an exceptional cast, and an oppressive and overwhelming dark streak and we, honestly, can’t wait to go back to breathing the air of survival horror from the past, especially after having also been able to enjoy a blockbuster like Alan Wake 2 which brought the genre back on the crest of the wave, if necessary.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Almost four years have passed since the arrival of Final Fantasy VII Remake and, let’s face it, we had lost hope of seeing the return of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and all the other splendid protagonists of the work soon, but finally we we are. The second chapter of the remake of what is the most famous and probably loved chapter of the series is ready to take center stage in 2024, thanks also to director Naoki Hamaguchi’s promise to bring an increasingly ambitious, rich, and multifaceted product to our screens.
The second chapter of the trilogy will be larger, freer, and more if we want, willing to dare than its predecessor, exploiting the narrative expedient of the abandonment of Midgar and the beginning of the journey of Cloud and all the others in the outside world, which, guarantees significantly greater freedom and vastness compared to the first chapter and we can’t wait to go back to playing the most beloved blond warrior in the world.
Persona 3 Reloaded
As great fans of the Shin Megami Tensei series and, in this specific case, of its spin-off (super reductive term, but that’s it) Persona, it is clear that the arrival of Persona 3 Reload, moreover on GamePass from day one. The fact that we have not (guiltily) played the original chapter makes everything even more magical, since it guarantees us to enter the world of production with relatively virgin eyes (we have seen the anime, we know a little about the general story and so on), thus increasing the hype around the arrival of this sort of soft remake out of all proportion. Luckily, February isn’t that far away.
Metaphor ReFantazio
Staying on the subject of Atlus-branded productions, it is truly impossible and perhaps even illegal not to include in the list of the most anticipated games of 2024 according to the GameaVillage editorial staff what seems like one of the most daring and promising works of the Japanese software house: Metaphor ReFantazio. The JRPG that exudes style, attention to detail, and visceral love for the authorial path followed by the company up to this moment seems to have all it takes to amaze fans, thanks above all to what seems like an out-of-scale artistic direction to which, we are sure, is accompanied by gameplay, as usual, full of possibilities and construction quality. As fans of the genre, we cannot hide the fact that we are truly hyped and we can’t wait to be able to confirm the good sensations when the game debuts on the market.
Rise of the Ronin
Rise of the Ronin, by fans of the “souls-like” genre and action-adventure in general. The new title from Team Ninja, fresh from the moderate success of Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, presents itself on the market with many ambitions and with a desire to distance itself from the previous works of the software house on a thematic level, while maintaining that unique and playful style, for many players, sublime and captivating. The journey inside the tormented Japan at the end of the 19th century, between blood, conspiracies, betrayals, and death, promises to be nothing short of exciting, both on a narrative level and above all on a gameplay level, an aspect on which the team has always managed to demonstrate that he knows how to work excellently and that even in this production he seems to have all it takes to amaze the playing audience. Black Myth Wukong
Staying on the subject of soul-like and fascinating productions in general, we necessarily had to include perhaps the most ambitious game belonging to the gaming sphere of recent years in the list of the most anticipated titles: Black Myyh Wukong. The guys at Game Science, moreover, have demonstrated that they know what they’re doing right from the beginning of the long development of the title, which finally showed itself again during the recent TGA complete with an official release date, ensuring us an even more summer. hotter and hotter than expected.
The souls-like with incredible charm, the result of an excellent artistic direction and characterized by what appears to be an interesting gameplay, to say the least, is arriving on August 20, 2024, and we, as good fans of the genre, are already organizing the inevitable abacus, fundamental to take into account the many deaths that will surely accompany us during our gaming sessions, given what could be one of the most ruthless and ambitious productions of the genre in recent years.
Dragon’s Dogma II
2024, however, is somewhat of a year of great returns and Dragon’s Dogma II is certainly one of the most anticipated and ambitious titles to be released during the next. On the other hand, the first chapter of the RPG series created by Capcom has proven to have an abnormal potential, and this more or less indirect sequel seems to want to expand, improve, and perfect that same gaming formula, bringing it to a decidedly higher level. Dragon’s Dogma II seems to be supported by a very solid gaming structure, a character design of great charm, and a sublime artistic direction, worthy of the best fantasy-themed productions, but above all it promises to give, once again, freedom of action to say the least total to the player, called to once again take on the role of the Arisen, once again dealing with a world full of dangers, secrets, and dark threats to reveal, in the company of the usual trusted allies and that playful structure that we have learned so much to love over the years. Will he be able to get through the first chapter? We’ll find out very soon!
Senua’s Saga Hellblade II
Okay, Senua’s Saga Hellblade II has not yet been officially confirmed for 2024, but Microsoft has made it clear that, for now, the launch window is that of the coming year, although it still doesn’t have a date official. In any case, it is impossible not to include it on our shopping list (say “hello” to your savings again this year!) the sequel to the wonderful Ninja Theory project starring the beautiful and devastated Senua, played by the equally wonderful Melina Jurgens, now increasingly immersed in the role of the tormented warrior. The second chapter of the series promises, and it is no mystery, to expand and improve everything good we saw in the first Hellblade and the first trailers, although always cryptic in this sense, promise very well, especially considering the greater possibilities offered to the player in playful terms.
Tekken 8
We said it before, and we confirm it now: 2024 is the year of illustrious returns and Tekken 8 also wanted to join the party. The new chapter of the glorious fighting game series has a heavy burden: being able to rival the excellent Mortal Kombat 1 and, above all, Street Fighters VI, two titles that during 2023 have been able to bring the genre in question back into vogue, to say the least. Tekken 8, however, seems to have everything in the right place to meet the enormous expectations of the day before and our numerous tests have in some way testified to this. As great fans of the series and discreet admirers of the genre, we are truly curious to discover all the secrets, both playful and otherwise, of the production, which promises to be a fundamental step for all fans and also a sort of new start for the youngest. Hades 2
The sequel to the amazing roguelite by Supergiant Games does not have an official release date, but it still falls, and with full merit, into the circle of the most anticipated titles of 2024. The new protagonist Melinoe is only the most superficial part of a product that still promises to amaze the audience, just as its predecessor managed to do, net of the lack of Zagreus who will certainly not make many opera fans happy.
Bye Sweet Carole
It’s impossible not to include in our long list the horror-tinged fairy tale inspired by the Disney animated films by our compatriot Chris Darril, Bye Sweet Carole, a title in development by Little Sewing Machine and Meangrip Game Studios. Expected at an as yet unclear date in 2024 on consoles and PCs, the story will follow the events of Lana Benton, who will find herself catapulted into a mysterious enchanted garden, in search of Carole Simmons, whose traces have been highlighted by some letters delivered to the young woman. Wool. And we can’t wait to experience this fantastic story firsthand!
Pacific Drive
The ambitious survival game with machines promises to be one of the most anticipated titles of 2024 and with good reason. We want to say it right away: Hauntii’s artistic style amazed us. After all, to be seen and above all to be experienced, the original and daring adventure developed by Moonloop Games promises to guide us into an exciting adventure, with strong tones that do not seem to mince their words, placing itself rightfully as one of the more original productions coming next 2024.
Harold Halibut
Even Harold Halibut, a fascinating and touching graphic adventure by Slow Bros, seems to have all the points in the right place to be able to amaze the gaming audience in 2024.
Replaced
The game set in a sort of retro-futuristic United States promises to be one of the most interesting titles on the independent scene of 2024. The guys at Thunderfull Group have recently postponed the project to a generic 2024, but we are convinced that, once it sees the light, the product in question will be able to achieve excellent satisfaction.
Bonus: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
Considering the tormented development of the game, the result of a devastating political situation to say the least, STALKER 2 is certainly a production that we all care about a little bit. The heir to the excellent survival game with a glorious past and a problematic future to say the least, whose development path began way back in 2010 and has been canceled several times and then revived, is struggling a lot but wants to get to the market, at any cost. The developers are working hard on the production, which seems to have a few too many problems, but hope is still the last thing to die and we want to include the title in our top ten and just see it arrive on the market, at least as far as we can tell. regards, it will already be a small joy.
Bonus 2: Give us Shadow of the Erdtree!
Okay, now let’s get serious: what happened to Shadow of the Erdtree? The Elden Ring DLC, which promises to be enormous both on a narrative and gaming level, was announced almost a year and a half ago and, since then, it has almost disappeared from every type of radar. Let’s be clear, we trust FromSoftware blindly, but we are starting to struggle to remain calm and wait, also because the Japanese company has practically stopped giving the slightest communication regarding the status of the project, which however should arrive almost as a given in 2024 and we hope so for them, too. We’re joking, but it’s clear that, if it actually arrives and is really what it seems, the Elden Ring DLC could be one of the best things of the new gaming year.
