The film is directed by Vasan Bala and the film is made by the makers of classic films like Andhadhun. The kind of hype and expectations everyone had from this film, this film has come true to them. This movie is a dark comedy, emotional, murder mystery and tremendous thriller. Have you heard of Achint Thakkar? Didn’t hear, never mind. Do you know Swapnil Sonawane? Well, to Yogesh Chandekar? Not even them! the same Yogesh who wrote Ayushmann Khurrana’s league-changing film Andhadhun.
The same Yogesh Chandekar has once again come up with an enchanting tale, Monica O My Darling from his fingers twitching on his laptop. Last time the storylines were derived from a French short film, this time the case is Japanese. All the names I took in the first three lines of this movie review are the real stars of this film. The direction is by Vasan Bala and the stars are well. Yogesh has woven the story of the film in such a way that you get lost in its characters. It doesn’t matter whether the character is female or male. The artist is famous or new. Everyone has their charm. Just like a snake standing in front of the snake charmer’s bean.
Monica O My Darling Review: The Story
The story of the film is about Jayant Khedekar (Rajkumar Rao), who is an engineer by profession, coming out of a small town called Angola. Jayant dreams of becoming a millionaire overnight and wants to become a millionaire as soon as possible, but in a hurry, he gets into big trouble he meets a girl named Monica (Huma Kureshi) who goes on Later, starts blackmailing Jayant for some reason. Troubled by Monica’s blackmailing, Jayant along with his associates plans to commit murder and bring it to the end, after which ACP Naidu (Radhika Apte) is responsible for the investigation of the Monica murder case is assigned. The story of this film revolves around an umpire, a company where Rajkumar Rao i.e. Jayant and Huma i.e. Monica work. The film Monica O My Darling has been made by the makers of Andhadhun, this is its biggest USP. One murder after another. Who is the murderer? It’s a murder mystery of sorts. One end of the story begins when a man from the small town of Ingola, who falls in love with the daughter of the owner of a big robotics company, dreams of becoming a millionaire by passing IIT. The story also goes on with his office nerd, seductive, Monica whose every anecdote is a dangerous part of the story. There is no escape from his illusion. She is taking most of the ‘week’, in the name of taking care of her unborn child. It is decided that it should be dealt with. Everything is done according to planning. But, When the victims reach the office after disposing of the corpse, Monica becomes visible there. So, who came to kill these people? The story unfolds slowly like an onion layer. In the end, although nothing comes to hand like an onion, opening the layers has its fun.
Monica O My Darling Review and Analysis
In this mystery of murder, many such funny punches are killed where you laugh a lot. The film keeps you tired and will make you sit in one place the whole time. It becomes very difficult to know who the murderer is in this film and this suspense has been redeemed very well in the film. The treatment and music of this film are its life, which plays in the background of the film full time and gives a different feel to the film. At the same time, whenever Huma Qureshi aka Monica comes on the screen, the entire frame turns red, that too can be called a highlight of this film.
Director Vasan Bala admits that he has not contributed much to the story of the film as Yogesh had already drawn a lot by the time, he got the responsibility of directing the film. The name of the movie is Monica O My Darling. The name is derived from the song of the 1971 superhit film ‘Caravan’. The magic of Asha Bhosle’s enchanting voice on the lyrics of Majrooh Sultanpuri and music by RD Burman continues. And it is magic that the music composer of the film Anchit Kaur composed the song, ‘Yeh Ek Zindagi Kafi Nahi Hai’, for the same song. It is a wonderful song and not only this, apart from this, ‘Love you so much I want to kill you’ and the most amazing song in the film is ‘Dil Hai Chhota Sa Magar’.! Along with Achint Kaur, the talent of Varun Grover, who wrote this song, has also managed to leave a splash after a long time.
Vasan Bala’s impression is seen in every corner of the making of the film. He started under the guidance of Anurag Kashyap, but the real ‘Eklavya’ looks like Sriram Raghavan. Pune is the backdrop of Shri Ram’s favourite city. The story revolves around Mumbai and its surrounding areas. The songs and the geography of the story together explore the past, present and future of the characters, and in this character churning, neither complete poison nor nectar is released. Here the matter is in the middle. Who is a deity and who is a demon, is not known, so there is no need to sit anywhere in disguise to taste the nectar. Yes, Vasan Bala had eaten here that by drinking nectar, a person becomes immortal, but by drinking snake venom, he does not die. There are a couple more like this in the film, but if he says that this is the cinema, then there is nothing left to say anything further.
The real credit for the film Monica O My Darling being a sightseeing film goes to its technical team, which is captained by its producer Sanjay Routre and mentor Sriram Raghavan. Swapnil Sonawane handled the camera brilliantly. Atanu Mukherjee has kept the editing of the film so tight that once you start the film, it is difficult to leave it in the middle. This is the number one Hindi film of this year released on Netflix and I don’t know why Netflix could not show the courage to release it in theatres. The cost of the film was to be recovered in its first weekend itself. You must be thinking that in the entire review, I did not even talk about the performance of the actors. I have left that part intentionally because if I go into it, then the graph of their characters will have to be told and in that lies the real secret of the film, why? It’s true, Monica oh my darling!
Monica O My Darling Review: The Last Words
The film released today on OTT and is a must-watch as it is a new genre of movie. And if Rajkumar’s trajectory tells us something, as he has added magic to every character he plays, be it Ludo, Stree or Badhaai Do, he has done the same thing as Jayant in Monica O My Darling. Rajkummar has had a tremendous year with the success of Badhaai Do, which fetched him several awards. Then there was the hit, which received much appreciation for his performance and just last night, Rajkummar Rao was honoured with the ‘Progressive Powerhouse Award’ at a prestigious award function.
