One of Netflix’s most recent novelties is the film Monica O My Darling, an Indian feature that is making the biggest success on the platform with its acidic and fearless humour. It’s a good choice, especially for those who want to experience a certain type of contact with cinema from places whose art is not so traditional. In the detective film, we can follow the story of Jayant Arkhedkar, a very intelligent young man and expert in robotics who ends up falling madly in love with a beautiful young woman, Monica. However, he has no idea how much this love will bring him harm and headaches in the future.
It’s just that the young woman will put the romance aside and start blackmailing him, which will make Jayant try to make some allies and, with their help, present a very elaborate plan to result in the perfect murder of his ex-lover, which it shows that he’s not quite as much of a hero as we initially thought. The story of the film is about Jayant Khedekar (Rajkumar Rao), who is an engineer by profession, coming out of a small town called Angola. Jayant dreams of becoming a millionaire overnight and wants to become a millionaire as soon as possible, but in a hurry, he gets into big trouble he meets a girl named Monica (Huma Kureshi) who goes on Later, starts blackmailing Jayant for some reason. Troubled by Monica’s blackmailing, Jayant along with his associates plans to commit murder and bring it to the end, after which ACP Naidu (Radhika Apte) is responsible for the investigation of the Monica murder case is assigned. The story of this film revolves around an umpire, a company where Rajkumar Rao i.e. Jayant and Huma i.e. Monica work. The film Monica O My Darling has been made by the makers of Andhadhun, this is its biggest USP. One murder after another. Who is the murderer? It’s a murder mystery of sorts. One end of the story begins when a man from the small town of Ingola, who falls in love with the daughter of the owner of a big robotics company, dreams of becoming a millionaire by passing IIT. The story also goes on with his office nerd, seductive, Monica whose every anecdote is a dangerous part of the story. There is no escape from his illusion. She is taking most of the ‘week’, in the name of taking care of her unborn child. It is decided that it should be dealt with. Everything is done according to planning. But, When the victims reach the office after disposing of the corpse, Monica becomes visible there. So, who came to kill these people? The story unfolds slowly like an onion layer. In the end, although nothing comes to hand like an onion, opening the layers has its fun.

After being promoted to the Unicorn Robotics Board of Directors, Jayant begins to face a series of problems, such as tensions between the other potential candidates for the position. However, the biggest impact will come from Satyanarayan Adhikari‘s secretary, Monica, who is revealed to be pregnant by him. Jayant, of course, will be very worried as he is dating Adhikari’s daughter. Monica, however, wants to keep the child and make Jayant dedicate part of his salary to her care, but the protagonist discovers that she is blackmailing Nishikant and Arvind in the same way.
To better understand the unfolding of this story, let’s go back to the beginning of the film when it is revealed that Jayant, Nishikant and Arvind’s plan to kill Monica didn’t work out, as they partially dropped a body thinking it was the girl’s, but she was more alive than ever. In this, doubt arose about the identity of the body they disposed of, which is revealed to be Nishikant‘s. Shortly after this discovery, Arvind receives a package with a snake and dies from the snake’s poisonous bite. The same almost happens to Jayant, who manages to avoid being a motive.
The Truth Comes Out
The suspicion is that Monica is behind all these attacks, which is later “denied” with the information that Gaurav is the real killer. Following Arvind and Jayant, he will overhear conversations about trying to kill Monica and will push the protagonist off a building after luring him. Jayant, however, survives by holding onto the edge and climbing down the pipes, still thinking Monica is the mysterious criminal. He will try to kill her but will end up revealing that he is not the murderer and that the blackmail was just a way to make more money.
She will reveal that she knows the identity of the real murderer, but before she can reveal it, she will end up drinking the poisoned wine and dying, without revealing the truth. Her killer, of course, will also be a mystery that will only be revealed later and has the potential to surprise those involved. Another mysterious death is that of Dev Prakash, whose responsibility was assumed by Farid Baig but was also caused by Gaurav, who could not tolerate the idea of seeing the man marrying Shalu, who in turn is the Jayant’s sister. Faridi, in turn, will think that Tamang is the only one responsible for the murders, which will make Jayant join Gaurav himself to check the records of the last person who used the robotic arm (the “weapon” of Dev’s murder) and discover that it was not Tamang, but his research partner.
The Expected Confrontation
The two will get into a fight, which will result in Gaurav coming clean about all the crimes he has committed. The audience will discover that Nishikant witnessed Gaurav murdering Dev and used the crime as leverage. He installed hidden cameras, which recorded Jayant and Monica’s affair, which was used to harass him. As he ended up being blackmailed by Monica, being one of the woman’s victims, he ordered Gaurav to kill her, which was promptly refused by the man. So Nishikant decided to threaten to tell them everything about Dev’s death and Gaurav ended up killing him. He then decided to kill Jayant and Arvind upon discovering that they were both together with the deceased.
After Dev’s murder, Satyanarayan threw Farid under the bus to save Jayant’s career, precisely because of his relationship with Satyanarayan’s daughter already mentioned. So when Shalu discovers this situation, she accuses Jayant of killing Dev, with no proof of what happened. Turning to Faridi to clear his name, he hears the accusation that Tamang made the accusaaccusednt and prevent his rise to the company’s board. However, the information is false, as Gaurav is the killer. But that doesn’t excuse Tamang from having committed another crime.
The Puzzle Being Assembled
After surviving Gaurav’s attack, Jayant calls the police and is eventually identified by the woman suffering from cataracts as Monica’s killer because of the perfume he wears. Everything changes when Naidu gives an interview claiming that Tamang is the one who killed Monica because she was pregnant with his child. He used Gaurav’s style of murder as a cover by killing people with snake venom which he ended up putting in Monica’s wine. Feeling guilty, the boy consumed the same poison and died, but this story is much more complex than the account given by Naidu on television. It’s just that Tamang did kill Monica with snake venom, not because she was pregnant with his child, but because she was pregnant with Satyanarayan Alhikari’s child. As she threatened to reveal this information to Nikki, he ordered Tamang to take care of her and poison her wine.
The Final Reveal
With that, Tamang was added to Unicorn’s board of directors. As he did not intend to give the boy anything, Satyanarayan ordered Naidu to kill his rival – which is what must have happened, so that the death would look like a suicide, as he reported on television. At the end of the film, knowing Gaurav is behind the deaths of Arvind and Nishikant and Tamang is the one who killed Monica in the name of Satyanarayan, Jayant ends with a mysterious ending, with two snakes coming down from the roof and threatening him. A black screen ends the film and reveals the mystery surrounding them.
