Missing Your Ending Explained: Who is The Real Killer of Kat’s Father and Why Josh Left?
Despite that the protagonist of “Missing You”, begs Sergeant Stagger (Richard Armitage) to help her get a confession out of LeBurne, his boss refuses and after the death of the subject, he suspends it. Meanwhile, Stacey finds some clues about Josh, who is also related to the disappearance of the mother of a young man named Brendan, who turns to Kat for help. Before his mandatory break, Kat was investigating the disappearance of Rishi Magari, who was kidnapped by a strange man named Titus (Steve Pemberton). Although he appears to be breeding and adopting dogs, he abducts people from taking their money from them, and then gets rid of their victims without a trace. This is the same man who kidnapped Brendan’s mother. An error by one of Titus’ employees allows Detective Donovan to follow a trail that brings her closer to the truth. The kidnappers fear being discovered and begin to follow Kat and Brendan, whom they kidnap when their mother escapes before she is killed, as well as Rishi. So what does Josh have to do with all that?
Nothing, since the Titus gang uses false profiles in the dating app to attract their victims. When Kat finally locates Josh, she discovers that he has a daughter and regrets abandoning her like that. Why did he do it? Set up by the character of Steve Pemberton, Titus, the dog breeder in disguise, is a real online fraud complete with mortal consequences; in fact, the kidnappings always ended with the final murder of the victims after he had bled them economically. Fortunately, except for mother and son. Everything started from a dating app based on common musical tastes. Too bad that using photos found on social fake profiles they ran into one created by Josh’s daughter (Ashley Walters), the ex-boyfriend of the protagonist Kat (Rosalind Eleazar). The girl wanted to let her father find some company after her mother’s death a few years earlier after he had completely disappeared without a trace from Kat’s life eleven years ago. So, the protagonist found herself investigating trying to find out what had happened to the ex, reopening old wounds that perhaps should have remained buried. The fortuitous coincidences, for better or for worse.
Who Killed Clint Donovan?
The true shocking revelation of the final of the Netflix miniseries however, comes in the last few minutes: the Titus question was archived with a happy ending for the mother and the boy who asked Kat for help to find her, and the other narrative lines intertwine incredibly. The person responsible for the death of Kat’s father, Clint (Lenny Henry) is … Josh Buchanan. That’s why he disappeared shortly after his death, following a bad fight in a bar that proves to be evidence that nails him because of the DNA in common with the other crime scene. He could no longer be close to the woman he loved after what he had involuntarily done to her.
Local boss Calligan (James Nesbitt) had blackmailed Clint because he had discovered that, like many policemen in the district at the time, he had an extramarital affair, having carried it on for 15 years. Too bad it was with a man, and the detective couldn’t do coming out, especially within the department as well as with wife and daughter; rather he had agreed to work for Calligan, and with that money, he had bought his daughter’s house. At some point, however, he couldn’t take it anymore and he was ready to leave his lover, Parker, and also the role of corrupt policeman, but the two are seen as they quarrel by Aqua (Mary Malone), the transgender roommate by Josh and friend of Kat. Clint chases Aqua home threatening her and, when she manages to enter, she tries to make him think and make him understand how much she understands her path and can try to help him come out. But he hears no reason, and finds his situation completely different, so much so that he ends up threatening and beating the girl who calls Josh and Detective Stagger (Richard Armitage), now head of Kat, to the rescue. At that point, the situation gets out of hand and the man takes a knife, Josh tries to defend himself and kills him in the scuffle.
What Happened to Brendan’s Mother?
Thanks to the presence of Brendan’s kidnapping, the protagonist of “Missing You” manages to keep track of the culprits and finds Titus’ farm, knowing that he is discovered, orders to burn everything, including the people he has kidnapped. Brendan’s mother, who she receives is called Number 6 by criminals, shows her bravery in escaping, killing a kidnapper, and helping the other victims escape. When he is left alone, Titus threatens to kill Brendan if the woman does not come out and give up. Before another tragedy occurs, Kat appears and arrests the leader of the criminal organization.
Who Killed Kat’s Father?
Kat continues her investigation and discovers that Calligan did not murder her father. Does Sergeant Stagger have anything to do with it? When cornered, he confesses that he concealed the death of his Clint to protect Kat and her mother. Detective Donovan worked for Calligan, that is, he was a corrupt agent. Also, he had a lover. However, Stagger insists that the real culprit is Calligan. Precisely with the help of the latter, Kat locates Parker, Clint’s lover, who tells him part of the truth. But he also doesn’t know who killed the detective. Thanks to footprints, Kat discovers that Josh, whom she gave another chance, was at the crime scene. Josh reveals that that fateful night Aqua, Kat’s trans friend, saw Clint kissing Parker. To prevent her from revealing her secret, Detective Donovan followed her to her apartment and threatened her.
When he saw a call from his daughter, Clint lost control and hit Aqua. Josh appeared and tried to stop him, but accidentally stabbed him. He tried to call the ambulance, but Clint begged him not to do it to protect Kat. At the end of “Missing You”, Josh reveals that he murdered Kat’s father by accident and that was the reason why he disappeared without a trace. The last scene shows the protagonist processing the news and bringing her hand closer to the love of her life, does that mean she forgives him and will continue with him? Is there more story to tell?
Kat’s Emotional Closure
Kat not only faces the loss of her father as the man she thought she knew but must also accept its complexity and the decisions she made to protect her family. Through Parker, Kat discovers a hidden facet of her father, understanding his inner struggle and the sacrifice of living a double life. This revelation, while painful, allows Kat to find some peace and reevaluate her relationship with Josh.
