Filmyhype.com Ratings: 4/5 (four stars)
Mirzapur Season 3 has been streamed on the OTT platform Amazon Prime. “Jab Tak insaan Majboor Nahi Hota Tab Tak Insaan Majboot Nahi Hota” this is the dialogue of Mirzapur and you must remember Guddu Bhaiya’s dialogue – “Shuru to majboori me kiye the lekin ab maja aa raha hai” Mirzapur started with a lot of gusto and it was fun. I enjoyed the first season a lot, the second a little less and the third a little less. The Bhaukaal may be still there but this time the matter seems to be less important as compared to the first two seasons. But still, if you are a fan of Mirzapur then you must watch it and know what is good and what is not good.
Will Guddu Pandit, who is enjoying gangsterism started out of compulsion, be able to handle the mood of Mirzapur’s throne or not? Will Golu, who is managing Guddu’s anger with a game plan, achieve her goal or not? Will Junior Shukla aka Sharad of Jaunpur be able to fulfill his father’s dream by making a mark in the open position of control over Purvanchal or not? What will be the next target of Chote Tyagi who has sacrificed his brother in the trap of love? Will Mirzapur roll out the red carpet or thorns for Kaleen Bhaiya who is returning from the brink of death? And the top priority thing… will Munna Bhaiya return from his deathbed, or will he remain dead? The second season of Mirzapur left behind a lot of questions for the audience. And the answer has come with Mirzapur Season 3. But every answer is destined to collide with a new question… and now the question to collide is – does Mirzapur Season 3 fit the mood of the audience waiting for the show? Or is it out of the syllabus?!
Mirzapur Season 3 Review: The Story Plot
The story begins at the end of the last season. By killing Munna Tripathi and removing Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit has declared himself the Bahubali of Mirzapur. Now he wants to sit on the throne of Purvanchal, but the biggest obstacle in his way is Sharad Shukla of Jaunpur and some Bahubali of the West. Here, no one knows where Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) is. Lady Don Golu (Shweta Tripathi) has become more aggressive than before. She supports Guddu Pandit by becoming his right hand. On the other hand, Jaunpur’s strongman Sharad Shukla (Anjum Sharma) wants to usurp the throne of Mirzapur by removing Guddu. For this, he makes the state’s Chief Minister Madhuri Yadav (Isha Talwar) his partner. Madhuri Yadav wants to eliminate the strongmen from the state, for this, she uses the strongmen as her weapon. JP Yadav also enters in the middle of the season. However, the biggest question still remains where is Kaleen Bhaiya? Kaleen Bhaiya comes out of the clutches of death in the middle of the series. Sharad Shukla plays a big role in saving his life. Now you will have to watch the series to know what role Kaleen Bhaiya will play in the story.
Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal) first became a rebel, then a goon, then a gangster, and now he wants to become Bahubali. It was clear from the first season that Guddu Pandit is not actually a power-hungry person. This man is only an agent of anarchy in this world. Now that he has the power of Mirzapur, what will he do? Mirzapur Season 3 begins with Golu (Shweta Tripathi), who will not breathe until she finds Kaleen Bhaiya aka Akhandanand Tripathi, or his dead body. Kaleen Bhaiya was not just the ‘King of Mirzapur’, he was a power grid connecting the power of Purvanchal. With his departure, this power is now disintegrating. Guddu may sit on his chair and declare himself Khalifa, but the rule of power is that it is not found, it is earned.
The biggest challenger of Guddu, who is famous/infamous for his short fuse, is Jaunpur’s new flagbearer Sharad Shukla, son of Ratishanker Shukla. Whom Guddu killed while reciting A-B-C in one breath. But Sharad is an educated, smart, cunning, and alert boy. And this boy with a lot of patience, his mind does not even read A-B-C, but Alpha-Beta-Gamma. Guddu has earned enemies in bulk, and Golu has also got a heartbreak. His twin younger brother Shatrughan is living as Bharat Tyagi. Shatrughan, who lost his brother due to Golu’s affair, is now going to become a crab in Aashiqui (you will understand this reference after watching the show). The Pandit family has faced a new tragedy. Advocate Ramakant Pandit (Rajesh Tailang) killed SSP Maurya to save Guddu in season 2. Now the lawyer himself is in jail and seeing the prisoners, his morals are wavering. His house is now in the hands of his daughter’s boyfriend Robin (Priyanshu Painyuli).
Here Kaleen Bhaiya’s wife Beena (Rasika Duggal) is busy saving the last hope of the Tripathi family from the storms of Mirzapur. Guddu has her full support. And there in Lucknow, the question of survival is very tough for late Munna Tripathi’s wife, Chief Minister Madhuri Yadav (Isha Talwar). Madhuri has to deal with her father’s political friends and enemies who are following his traditions. She wants to make the state a fear-free state and also wants to instill fear of law in the strongmen. But it is impossible to cure this species, which generates horsepower on the fuel of revenge and ego, through politics. The strongmen are Bhasmasur who has pleased the destroyer of the world with their stubbornness. It remains to be seen who among these demons dancing to the beats of constant audacity, arrogance, and ruthlessness, puts his hand on his head first!
Mirzapur Season 3 Review and Analysis
Mirzapur is the series that has Bhaukaal, which has a different fan base. People especially take leave to watch this series, but this time Bhaukaal is less as compared to the first two seasons. The series seems a bit stretched, there are fewer Bhaukaal scenes and less violence. Munna Bhaiya is missed, and Kaleen Bhaiya also does not create much Bhaukaal. There are a few funny scenes, but such scenes are less, and there are only one or two such scenes that shake you. There are a lot of expectations from Mirzapur, this series is good but not great, and yes, it is not bad at all. Mirzapur fans will like it, but they will also feel the lack of Bhaukaal. Many sequences have been dragged too much; the entire responsibility is on Guddu Bhaiya’s shoulders. It is fun whenever he comes, but Guddu Bhaiya could not have carried 10 episodes alone.
One of Mirzapur’s trademarks has been to shock the audience with gore. But from the first season to the third, it has started being used more intelligently. Mirzapur Season 3‘s specialty is its intelligence. Compared to the last two seasons, the characters are now using their brains more, even Guddu. Violence is Guddu’s USP, the writers of the show have also understood this and have used it carefully. But those who want to see Guddu always raging will like this a little less. However, a fight sequence designed inside the jail at the end of the show makes up for it completely. There is much less comic relief in Mirzapur Season 3 as compared to the first two seasons. Wherever it is, it seems to be forcibly inserted into the story and disturbs the mood. Like the drama of an undercover cop character and the state Home Minister forcibly reading the wrong words.
Many stories cross each other in Mirzapur from the very beginning. This time it has been dealt with much better, but the sub-plot of Shatrughan Tyagi should have been explored more. In season 2 also the matter of Tyagis remained incomplete, this time they could not contribute much to the main issue. A new character that came in the second season had become a public favorite. This time it was expected that he would be shown in a better way, but the show disappointed here. Killing characters in writing often shows that the writer is unable to take advantage of them and they have been disposed of by considering them an unnecessary complication. But a lot of work could have been done with this character. This time Sharad Shukla and Madhuri made the show really interesting. The writing of these two characters is very solid. Two young, well-educated people who dream of living in a new universe, getting into the mud they have inherited. And not just maintaining balance, but also getting a foothold in it, is a development worth watching.
The most fun in Mirzapur Season 3 is watching the female characters. Beena, Madhuri, Golu, Radhia, and Zarina look powerful in their own way. Directors Gurmeet Singh and Anand Iyer along with the team of writers should be given credit for this. Amidst the male characters written with a lot of gunpowder in their pen, such effective female characters look very impressive. In the third season, Mirzapur has improved in treating the characters, and conflict and showing details through the camera. The dialogues are full of anger as usual and you feel the emotions in the emotional scenes. The show has retained another feature, the way you expect the characters to behave in any situation, they do not behave like that at all. They do not do exactly the opposite but do something completely different.
Guddu Pandit’s role is quite impressive and strong this time too. Ali Fazal has once again looked great in the role of an arrogant strongman. Golu, a naive college student in the first season, i.e. Shweta Tripathi, has now become a lady don by the third season. She shows no mercy to her enemies. Sharad Shukla (Anjum Sharma) has more screen time in this season. In a way, he is in the second lead role. He has done a very good job. Pankaj Tripathi, who was the soul of this series, has had his role reduced considerably and he is very weak. However, he has tried to make the most of the space he has got. It is clear from the last few episodes that the upcoming season will revolve around Kaleen Bhaiya. The role of Kaleen Bhaiya’s wife Beena Tripathi (Rasika Duggal) is also impactful. Isha Talwar in the role of CM Madhuri Yadav looks calm but smart. Vijay Verma’s role as Chote Tyagi is also fine, but not as entertaining as the second season. However, this time Vijay’s character carries a mystery with him.
Gurmeet Singh directed the series. He has tried to make the story engaging but could not leave the same impact that was seen in the previous two seasons. The role of the lead character Kaleen Bhaiya has been reduced a lot, which the audience may not like. The audience is used to seeing a strong and fearless Kaleen Bhaiya, so seeing him helpless and powerless might make the audience unhappy. The absence of Munna i.e. Divyendu Sharma is visible in this season. Some scenes of jail have been shown unnecessarily. The series could have been trimmed a bit. Although the climax is definitely better, the ending sequence might surprise you a bit. There may be a million complaints about Mirzapur, but in terms of the actors’ work, the level of this show is very high. Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Duggal, and Shweta Tripathi have been in consistent form since the first season.
They do not make even half an iota of mistakes in their characters. But this time Anjum Sharma and Isha Talwar have given amazing weight to their characters with their performance. The body language, voice modulation, and eyes of both actors leave an amazing impact. As soon as Vijay Verma creates the atmosphere, the writing abandons him. The actor who has played the role of the poet has also done a strong job. And as always, the supporting cast also makes a solid impact. Mirzapur has been lacking a moral scale since the beginning. This is felt more in the third season. You cannot expect any kind of morality from any character in this show which has survived for 6 years and three seasons. This is indeed necessary to create a completely dark, ugly world on screen. But in the web of entertainment, it is also necessary to have a string that the audience feels like supporting the characters. When this does not happen, the audience’s attention runs away from that corner. They want to see someone fulfilling his ambition.
Mirzapur Season 3 Review: The Last Words
However, overall Mirzapur Season 3 definitely keeps the attention captivated with shock, surprise, and madness. The brilliant performance of the actors and the anger of the characters definitely increase the adrenalin. Kaleen Bhaiya’s game in dialogues and climax is the icing on the cake. If you have enjoyed the last two seasons of Mirzapur, then you will definitely like this one too. However, if you expect too much, you will be disappointed. This time a different level of bloodshed has been seen, so some scenes may also disturb you. Politics, betrayal, malice, lust, and humor, everything will be seen in the series. Apart from this, there is arrogance in all the characters, which perfectly reflects the style of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
