Martha Is Dead: The Psychological Horror Video Game Will Have a Film Adaptation

Martha Is Dead, the indie horror game set in World War II will be adapted to film. The game’s Italian developer, LKA, teamed up with production company Studios Extraordinaires to bring the psychological adventure to the big screen. Released in early 2022, Martha Is Dead functioned as a first-person adventure that followed the story of two identical twins, Guilia, the protagonist, and Martha. Set in Tuscany in 1944 during the final stretch of World War II, the sisters maintain a tense relationship due to the clear favoritism that Martha receives from her mother. However, everything takes a more twisted turn when Martha turns up dead and her mother mistakenly believes Guilia to be Martha, leading her to assume her late sister’s identity. Although details of the plot of the film in development have not yet been revealed, it is expected that the adaptation will follow this same premise.

In 2022, actress Annie Warburton won the “Gaming – Best Performance – Female” award at the One Voice Awards 2022, for her performance as the voice of Giulia.
