Director: Craig Zobel

Cast: Kate Winslet, Jean Smart, Guy Pearce, Julianne Nicholson

Streaming on: Disney+ Hotstar

Rating: 4/5 (four Stars) [yasr_overall_rating size=”large”]

For viewers who are often engrossed in the circle of female characters in Hindi cinema, HBO Originals’ new series ‘Mer of Easttown’ may seem like a shocking story. Directors of Hindi cinema making hollow films in the name of women empowerment must watch this series. Here the heroine has not set out to set an ideal. She has come out to live her life as destiny has blessed her or to say that she is not facing any problem in living. She doesn’t have to worry about coming home to cook food even after working around the world. He is happy today. She is sad from yesterday, but she believes in worrying about tomorrow when the time comes. The makers of ‘Four More Shots Please’, ‘Made in Heaven’ and ‘Veere Di Wedding’ should make something like this too. Its fame had reached before the web series ‘Mer of Easttown’ came to India. This web series, which released on HBO in the US in April this year, has now reached Disney Plus Hotstar in India.

Mare Of Easttown Review

Review and Analysis

The story is of a 40’s Arte Parte cop, around whom every color of life is scattered. Murder is taking place. Kidnappings are happening. Public is taunting him. The husband has left her. The daughter herself has become a mother. You have hardly seen a grandmother become a man in such a story before. Remember Neena Gupta of ‘Sardar Ka Grandson’, whose character in the film ‘Badhaai Ho’ has to live in the guilt of enjoying carnal pleasures throughout the film. There is nothing like that here. For these nanny, carnal pleasures are only a part of her life, which she does not feel guilty for enjoying. The seven episode web series ‘Mer of Easttown’ deserves a full watch in one go because of its heroine Kate Winslet. Well this weekend, you also have the option of ‘The Family Man 2’. But, if English series suits you, then nothing better than this is new available on OTT.

The web series ‘Mer of Easttown’ is like lentils cooked in Batloi on the stove heat instead of lentils made in a pressure cooker. The water kept in the bowl above is boiling with the steam of combustion. The story is cooking. This story keeps you completely hooked for seven episodes. Brad Inglesby deserves full credit for being able to create something different and something new in the midst of a series that is increasingly similar. Director Craig Joble embodied Inglesby’s imagination on the canvas and colorized by Kate Winslet. The co-stars of the series have also done full justice to the characters and each character leaves such a familiarity that they feel like spending some more time with them.

From ‘Sense and Sensibility’ to ‘Steve Jobs’ to Kate Winslet, the web series ‘Mer of Easttown’ is yet another stellar performance of the season. Year after year, a different energy of acting is being filled in this actress, that can be understood only by seeing. Kate is proud of her maturity. She is not making any effort to hide her age, but she is getting such a character where her age only helps in playing that character.

Kate Winslet shines here in the role of Mer, then the cast around her has also contributed a lot. You should keep an eye on Julian Nicholson’s character from the beginning. Even if you do not keep it, the story of the last episode will force you to remember their complete blueprint again. Gene Smart, Kylie Spaney’s loveliness enthralls the audience from different perspectives. The web series ‘Mer of Easttown’ is a series shot by creating a special atmosphere. Ben Richardson has done commendable cinematography in the series. Series composer Lele Marchitelli also did a great job in the team of technicians.
