M3GAN 2 Already Has a Release Date Set: What We Know So Far
It’s official: M3GAN 2 is going to happen. The confirmation comes from Blumhouse after the eventuality of the arrival of a sequel had already been widely anticipated. The film, which stars a highly sophisticated artificial intelligence in the form of a killer doll, is enjoying great success at the box office, with audiences and critics alike giving largely positive reviews. The story is that of Gemma (Allison Williams), a robotic engineer who has designed a technologically advanced doll designed to play with children but also to protect them and perform a sort of educational function. Gemma tests her creation with her granddaughter Cady (Violet McGraw), who was orphaned after a tragic accident. Too bad the doll evolves a little too extreme and to protect Cady is willing to do anything.
M3GAN 2 Release Date
After teasing plans for a sequel to M3GAN, The Hollywood Reporter now confirms that development is official. The sequel will be titled M3GAN 2.0 and even has a release date already set for January 17, 2025. Akela Cooper will re-engage as a writer, and Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will reprise their respective characters. It is not yet known whether Amie Donald and Jenna Davis (the voice of M3GAN) will also return to give life to the killer doll in the original version). Also, to be confirmed is the presence of Gerard Johnstone behind the camera. Allison Williams will also be involved as a producer for the sequel alongside James Wan and Jason Blum.
The advertising campaign studied in detail by Blumhouse complete with a ballet that went viral on social media had a great weight in the launch of M3GAN, which can be defined as the first major box office success of 2023. On the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an impressive score of 95% and also this positive response from audiences and critics has contributed to the confirmation of a sequel. The screenplay will be written by Akela Cooper, while production is entrusted to Michael Clear and Judson Scott for Atomic Monster, Ryan Turek for Blumhouse and Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide / Conquer. It is not yet known if Gerard Johnstone will return behind the camera. Meanwhile, while plans for the future are being made, M3gan’s unstoppable ride at the box office continues, which has grossed almost 100 million dollars worldwide.
