Lupin Season 4: Filming Began in Paris and The First Image From the Set

If we had not received confirmation of Lupin’s return to Netflix yet, the streaming platform surprisingly announced not only that Lupin Season 4 will be available, but also that filming has just started in Paris. In 2023, Netflix released the third season of Lupin, a serious phenomenon that has captivated audiences worldwide with the adventures of the gentleman thief inspired by the character from Maurice Leblanc’s novels. Now, two years after the release of the episodes of Lupin Season 3 on Netflix, we have the first information about the fourth and highly anticipated installment. Omar Sy returns to portray the iconic Assane Diop, the gentleman thief who has won over audiences in France and around the globe. The Lupin series has solidified its status as one of the most popular non-English language productions in Netflix history. The first three parts occupy the third, sixth, and tenth places in the global historical ranking, confirming the extensive following and international engagement of the series. Now it is certain, Lupin will return with new adventures. But what should we expect from the new episodes of Lupin Season 4? Let’s start by saying that the open final of Lupin 3 had left the way open for a new adventure. And the creator of the series himself, George Kay, in an interview with Variety two years ago, had talked about Lupin‘s future in these terms.

“Obviously, we have worked very hard on these seasons, and then we must see how the world reacts. But when creating the dynamics between the characters, these series are set so that they can have a long duration, so as not to be cornered or have no problem continuing them, because it is more difficult to generate a continuum from a series that is not it is designed to go back and forth. So we had very ambitious foundations. Lupin certainly has the dimensions necessary to move forward with new seasons, if necessary”.

At the end of Lupin Season 3, we see Assane becoming a police officer and choosing to end up in prison to leave the family free to live without the weight of hiding. Thus, Diop is in a cell intent on reading his books by Lupin when he is sent a message from his neighbor that is none other than Hubert Pellegrini who makes him understand that behind everything that has happened to him is him and that some of the his loved ones, in reality, would have betrayed him. So, Lupin Season 4 could start right from here, from the mystery of Pellegrini that Assane will have to solve from behind bars, even if we are sure that a way to get out of prison would find it all right.
