Love Lies Bleeding: The Psychological Thriller That Surprised at Sundance
The A24 Studio presented one more film at Sundance 2024, it is Love Lies Bleeding, a psychosexual thriller that has Kristen Stewart as the protagonist and that has given a lot to talk about. Stewart presented two films at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, the first is a futuristic drama about two Artificial Intelligences seeking to create a connection, and the second is Love Lies Bleeding, which is also a love story, but with elements of crime, psychology, obsessions and violence, which takes place in a surreal version of the 80s.
The film was written and directed by Rose Glass, the director and creator of Saint Maude, which is one of the most disturbing and disturbing religious horror films of recent years, with one of those stories that you can’t get out of again head. This time, Glass takes us to the world of bodybuilding, with the story of an athlete and a lonely and complicated woman, who live an intense romance amid a chaotic, violent, and potentially destructive situation.
The Trailer for Love Lies Bleeding
The first trailer for the film is a look at the neon-colored fantasy created by Glass, where we see Stewart as a woman with a dark and complex past, who is contacted by the FBI as her life falls apart, a new relationship arises in her life and a series of bloody crimes are investigated. The discovery of a body seems to be the first piece that begins to destroy everything, and the characters are forced to decide which side they are on.
When is Love Lies Bleeding Released?
The film will have its official premiere on March 8 of this year, although for now it is not known if it will arrive in Mexico on that same date.
The Cast of Love Lies Bleeding
Kristen Stewart, who has starred in films such as Spencer, Personal Shopper, and Crimes of the Future, plays Lou, a woman with a criminal father and a history full of secrets, who falls in love with a Bodybuilder named Jackie, played by Kathy O’Brien, who has appeared in The Mandalorian and Ant-Man. The film also features Anna Baryshnikov, from Manchester by the Sea, and Dickinson, Dave Franco, Jena Malone, and Ed Harris, whom we have seen in great projects such as Westworld and The Truman Show.
What is Love Lies Bleeding About?
The first synopsis of the film simply said: A romance fueled by ego, desire, and the American dream. Love Lies Bleeding is half romance and half crime story. It all takes place in the 80s and follows the lonely Lou, who after meeting a bodybuilder named Jackie ends up falling in love with her. A relationship soon develops, but everything becomes complicated when Jackie starts working for Lou’s father, where she is forced to commit a series of crimes that could end up destroying them both.
The consequences begin to catch up with them and, from what we see in the trailer, the FBI tracks down Lou’s father and asks for his help to try to catch him, but that also puts Jackie in danger, so she is between a rock and a sword. wall as she tries to decide what to do about this and how to get Jackie, and herself, out of the chaos they’re in. The official synopsis reads: “From director Rose Glass comes an electrifying new love story: Lou, a lonely gym manager, falls madly in love with Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder heading to Las Vegas in pursuit of her dream. But their love ignites violence, dragging them deeper into Lou’s family’s criminal network”.
