Upcoming film starring comedian Kevin Hart, Lift, which sports a star-studded cast, gets its first promo picture from Netflix

A new image for Kevin Hart’s film, Lift, has been released by Netflix. Hart was formerly known as a comedian but has now fully transitioned into acting. He has had a busy 2022 with projects like The Man from Toronto, DC League of Super-Pets and Me Time. At the same time, he also served as an executive producer on several television series. In 2021, he signed a long-term deal with Netflix, planning to produce and star in four films for the streaming giant. This includes a first-run deal for any film produced by his HartBeat Productions company. On Twitter, Netflix released the first image from the actor’s upcoming film, Lift, which also shows off his co-stars.

Everything We Know About Lift

First announced in 2021, Lift is the third film to emerge from the deal between Kevin Hart and Netflix. The synopsis of him reads that the actor plays a thief who is wooed by his ex-girlfriend and the FBI to pull off an impossible heist. He’ll coup with his international crew on a 777 flying from London to Zurich. Lift sports an all-star cast that includes Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Billy Magnussen, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, Burn Gorman and Sam Worthington.

The film sees director F. Gary Gray return to the heist genre. He had previously directed the 2003 remake of the classic 1969 film The Italian Job, which opened to generally positive reviews and grossed $176 million at the box office. Gray is also known for directing Men in Black: International, The Fate of the Furious, and the Academy Award-nominated Straight Outta Compton. The screenplay is co-written by Daniel Kunka (12 Rounds), Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) and X-Men: Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg.

With a lot of talent on and off the screen, Lift is shaping up to be an entertaining and gripping film. It will also be nice to see Kevin Hart in another not-quite-comedic role unless his character is solely tasked with making people laugh. Lift is set to release on Netflix on August 25, which means more looks at the film should be arriving this summer.
