Killing Old People Club: The Creator of Squid Game Is Already Working On A Movie “Even More Violent And Controversial” Than The Netflix Series
After the tremendous bombshell that was Squid Game, its creator Hwang Dong-hyuk is preparing a new project Killing Old People Club with which he promises much more violence and crudeness. As if that were not enough, season two of the Netflix series is already taking shape, although we will still have to wait a couple of years to see it.
Based On A Novel By Umberto Eco
This week Hwang Dong-hyuk has participated in the international edition of the Cannes Series Writer’s Club, where he has talked about the projects he is working on right now. As reported by Variety his new movie is called ‘KO Club,’ or ‘Killing Old People Club‘ and you can guess that the focus of the movie is going to be murders of the elderly. In fact, the director says that his new film is going to be “even more violent than ‘Squid Game‘. He has also joked that he may have to hide from the elders after it is released because of the reactions he may provoke, and that the project is “another very controversial movie.”
Killing Old People Club Release Date
According to reports, Hwang has already completed a 25-page first treatment for the film, which is based on a novel by Umberto Eco. The director has also not given more details about when it will go into production or a tentative release date for ‘Killing Old People Club’, but it is most likely that he will first have to dedicate himself to the second season of Squid Game.
While the development of his new movie progresses, the creator of ‘The Squid Game’ has already returned to Korea to continue working on the second season. In principle, the new chapters of the story will be released on Netflix at the end of 2024, although there is still no specific release date.
