Khufiya: Star Cast and Release Date What We Know About Vishal Bhardwaj’s Netflix Project

Director Vishal Bhardwaj, who gave films like Omkara, Maqbool and Haider to Hindi cinema, is now ready to show his wonder on the OTT screen. Vishal is making his OTT debut with Netflix’s Khufiya. Netflix has announced this, as well as introduced the star cast.

Khufia is a spy film that will tell the story of spies working for an intelligence network, a cinematic adaptation of Amar Bhushan’s novel Escape to Nowhere. Vishal is also producing the film along with directing. At the center of the story is an RA&W agent named Krishna Mehra, who is tasked with finding a rookie selling intelligence documents related to the Indian defense. Krishna leads a double life as a detective and a girlfriend. The film stars Tabu, Ali Fazal, Vamika Gabbi and Ashish Vidyarthi in lead roles.

It was director Vishal Bhardwaj who brought her back to the limelight after Tabu was in a way away from cinema as a heroine. This second innings of Tabu, which started with the film ‘Maqbool’, has seen many popular stages of her best performance since then. Tabu is also preparing to work with Vishal Bhardwaj again. On this occasion, she says, “The film ‘Khufiya’ is a film which is very close to my heart. I am very excited to be a part of this spy thriller. And, as always, working with Vishal Bhardwaj gives me immense pleasure, it is also a homecoming for me.

‘Khufiya’ is inspired by true events and based on an espionage novel ‘Escape to Nowhere’ by Amar Bhushan. The film stars Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi and Ashish Vidyarthi in pivotal roles. Vishal Bhardwaj’s company will also produce the film ‘Khufiya’ based on the search for a spy who leaked information about the country’s defense matters. Apart from Tabu, Ashish Vidyarthi, Ali Fazal and Vamika Gabbi will also be seen in important roles in the film. Expressing happiness over the film’s announcement on Thursday, Vishal says, “My attempt in ‘Khufiya’ is to make an astonishing spy film. This film will be in stark contrast to the low flame of information and observation and the interplay of deeply ingrained human emotions will be crucial.

The film ‘Khufiya’ has been written by Vishal Bhardwaj and Rohan Narula. The pre-production of the film is already underway and it is expected that Vishal will start shooting for it soon. Vishal’s innings as a director will complete 20 years next year. Vishal’s directorial journey, which started with the film ‘Makdi’, has been on a downhill for the last few years. Vishal’s career got messed up after the flop of ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’, passing through ‘Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola’, ‘Haider’, ‘Rangoon’, till ‘Patakha’, he was tired. Last month, Vishal also announced his son Aakash’s directorial debut ‘Kutte’.

Tabu is also set to collaborate with the director’s son, Aasmaan Bhardwaj, for his debut film Kuttey. The thriller film stars Arjun Kapoor, Tabu, Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kumud Mishra, Radhika Madan, and Shardul Bhardwaj. Tabu also has Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, alongside Kartik Aaryan.
