During the celebrations of Olympia Day, Zeus questions his omnipotence after seeing a vertical wrinkle on his forehead, which leads him to think of his prophecy: “A line appears, order perishes, the family falls and chaos prevails.” The same one he shares with three other humans. Hera (Janet McTeer) tries to reassure him, but paranoia takes over the king of the gods. Meanwhile, Eurydice ‘Riddy’ (Aurora Perrineau), one of the human protagonists of Kaos is preoccupied with matters of the heart. She no longer feels love for Orpheus (Killian Scott), but she doesn’t know how to tell him. On Olympia Day, she meets Cassandra (Billie Piper), a prophet, who warns her of her fate. During the night, after speaking to her mother who has become a Tacita, she is run over and ends up in the Underworld, the realm of Hades (David Thewlis).

Kaos Netflix: Plot Summary

The showrunner of Kaos introduces us to the family of Greek gods par excellence, at their maximum level of power, whose veneration by humans remains intact, except for those few skeptics of the Trojan house, full of reasons to hate those they consider their enemies, absolutely absent from the suffering of their servants. It is from this small doubt that the series begins, from this Zeus who, despite knowing he is omnipotent and infallible, begins to feel the weight of uncertainty, that is, of something that escapes his omniscience. From there to absolute anarchy, you can imagine the rest: the king of the gods of Olympus thinks he has abandoned his supremacist personality and, despite having sworn not to be like his father Chronos, his existential sadness returns to being tyrannical.

A seemingly inexhaustible source of inspiration for pop culture, Greek mythology revolutionized animation techniques with Wrath of the Titans, became a teenage journey with Percy Jackson, and over the years has gone from popular to lugubrious. It is perhaps precisely this familiarity that allows Kaos to reinterpret mythology in such a saccharine and cartoonish way: in the world idealized by Charlie Covell, humanity still believes in the Greek gods and praises them in the same way as the Christian, Islamic, or Hindu faith. Temples and statues were built in the great cities in the name of Zeus, Hera, and Poseidon, and the belief in divine prophecies and punishments dictated indoctrination. And, as the ancient Greeks tell us in their myths, these gods walk the earth as humans to enjoy their superiority in the most banal way possible.

Orpheus cannot bear the death of his beloved, so he snatches her coin from her in the hope that he can reach her there. When he attempts suicide, Dionysus (Nabhaan Rizwan) stops him and pledges to help him win back his wife. Although they fail the Fates’ test, Dionysus gives his father Zeus’ watch to Atropos, Lacheis, and Clotho so that Orpheus has a chance. Meanwhile, Riddy meets Caeneus (Misia Butler), an Amazon who died of betrayal and was betrayed by his mother and is also the second human of the prophecy. As they work together and discover the truth about Nothing, they develop a very strong bond. Orpheus arrives at the place and receives help from Charon when he distinguishes the mark that Prometheus told him about before killing him. The third human in the prophecy related to Zeus is Ari, the daughter of the ruler of Crete, Minos. She murdered her twin brother Glaucus when she was very young. Although she does not remember anything, she feels very guilty. That is why she tries to prevent the death of the Trojans who desecrated the monument of Zeus. What is Nothingness Really?

Riddy and Caeneus discover the Nothing, a mysterious cavern filled with the remains of human souls. They then come to understand that mortal souls passing through the Underworld Frame are not renewed, but instead become water in the Meander of Olympus, which maintains the immorality of the gods. At some point, Prometheus, who is the narrator of Kaos confronted Zeus and received the punishment that everyone knows. To overthrow the king of the gods, he follows the advice of one of the Fates: kill Charon so that he fulfills his mission in the Underworld.

What is Ari’s True Story?

The Furies show Ariadne her family’s past. She did not suffocate her brother Glaucus in the cradle. Minos locked him away and turned him into the Minotaur to prevent his prophecy from coming true: “Your end begins in the marital bed: the first child to breathe will kill you”. However, he made a mistake because the first to breathe was Ari. Upon learning the story, Zeus orders Minos to kill his son to get rid of his prophecy. When the Cretan ruler does not do so, he provokes his daughter Ari to kill him in revenge.

What Happened to Riddy and Caeneus?

Orpheus manages to rescue Riddy from the underworld but realizes that she no longer loves him, so they agree to go their separate ways. Upon returning to Earth, Riddy meets Cassandra, who tells him, “I am a prophet. So are you now. You must go to Ari and free the living. Caeneus will do the same for the dead”. Meanwhile, Caeneus is reunited with his mother Myrina, who takes him through the Framework after explaining that she handed him over to his assassins to fulfill her prophecy. Once in the Nothing, Caeneus returns to life and then resurrects Myrina. Later, Hades realizes that Caeneus can renew human souls.

What Happened to Zeus?

Zeus is becoming increasingly paranoid, so he decides to destroy the Moirai to prevent their prophecies from coming true. Finding her watch, he calls a meeting where several secrets are revealed. To teach them a lesson, Zeus kills Dionysus’ cat and burns Hera’s bees. At the end of Kaos Prometheus regains his freedom and awaits Zeus on his throne. The king of the gods tries to use his powers to get rid of the intruder, but they don’t work. Seeing a cut on his finger, he realizes that his dream was a vision. Meanwhile, Ari, who is in charge of Crete, meets with Cassandra, who asks him for help in rebuilding Troy and destroying Olympus. As Dionysus also approaches Ari with a bottle of water from Maeander, Hera, surrounded by her Tacitus, calls her son to ask him to gather the troops and prepare the guest bed. Does this mean there will be a season 2?
