Prabhas’s film Kalki 2898 AD has been released in theatres. After Adipurush and Salaar, I was in a dilemma whether I should go to the theatre and take the trouble of watching this film early in the morning or not. But the buzz about the film was so much that I could not stop myself from watching it. After watching Prabhas’s film Kalki, it seems that Prabhas has a big guest appearance in this film. If we want to see more of him, then we will have to wait for part 2 of Kalki 2898 AD. You can definitely watch this film for the new technology and action shown in the rest of the film. But do not watch it in the morning, you may feel sleepy at the beginning of the first half. The length of this science fiction Mytho Drama film is 3 hours.

Lord Krishna curses Ashwatthama saying, “Your glory is over women”. But the time will come to save oneself in Kaliyuga. He says about deliverance from the curse that you will get deliverance only after saving me. After 600 years in the vicinity of Kashi, there is a fight for the future between Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), Bhairava (Prabhas), Sumathi (Deepika Padukone) and Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan).

Kalki 2898 AD Review: Story Plot

Before the release of the film, the production had warned not to share spoilers. So let’s try to tell you the story without spoilers. The world changed in the year 2898 AD. The rich have become richer in this world. The poor have become slaves of the rich. But there are some revolutionaries among these slaves. They have built their own city named Shambala, where they still believe in God. Their enemy is Kali (Kamal Haasan). This Kali has created a new world for rich people away from the earth, which he has named Complex. The overall thing is that God is about to be born, and the revolutionaries want him to be born, but Kali and his army want to kill this child before he is born. To know more about the story, you will have to go and watch Kalki 2898 AD. First of all, when we see young Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Ashwatthama in the Mahabharata era on the big screen, then we get the feeling of value for money. But now it is a request to the South filmmakers that in the process of making two films, do not drag the first half so much that the audience starts watching the mobile screen instead of the screen in front of them.

If the story can end in one part, then there is no need to drag it to the second part. Talking about the film, this film which seems boring in the first half changes in the second half as if the time has suddenly changed, emotions have changed, and life has changed. The film begins with the backdrop of Mahabharata. On the battlefield, Shri Krishna curses Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) to never die. However, with this curse, he also gives Ashwatthama a chance to repent. Shri Krishna tells Ashwatthama that after thousands of years, when there will be only evil in every corner of the world and when atrocities on people will increase, then an incarnation of God named Kalki will be born. However, his birth will not be easy. The demonic forces will try their best to ensure that he does not come to earth. In this situation, Ashwatthama will get an opportunity to wash away his sins by protecting God.

Now from here the story moves forward 6 thousand years later and reaches Kashi, the last city in the world. Inside this city, there is a separate empire named ‘Complex’. Its ruler Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) does a different kind of experiment to make himself all-powerful. For this, he injects the serum extracted from the womb of girls into himself. Through this, he has ruined the lives of many girls in his lab. After a lot of experiments, a girl from his lab, Sumati (Deepika Padukone) becomes pregnant. As soon as Sumati gets pregnant, Ashwatthama sitting far away realizes that God is going to enter the world in the form of that child. Sumati runs away from there, and on the way, Ashwatthama meets her for her safety. On the other hand, Bhairava (Prabhas), a carefree money-hungry person, plans to enter Yaskin’s complex at any cost. For this, he keeps trying to impress the bad guys in the complex. He convinces the people in the complex that he will find Sumati. Then there is a fierce fight between Bhairava and Ashwatthama for Sumati. However, something happens in between Bhairava and Ashwatthama start fighting together for the safety of Sumati. Is there any connection between Bhairava and Ashwatthama? To know this you will have to watch the film.

Kalki 2898 AD Review and Analysis

Kalki 2898 AD is directed by Nag Ashwin. This is his first action film and he has done wonders on the big screen. When we watch this film in the theatre, it feels like we are watching a Hollywood film. Every action scene in the film is spectacular and original. Be it Prabhas’ fight, or the war between Ashwatthama-Bhairav. On one hand, while Nag Ashwin is seen using many modern fighting techniques in Bhairav’s action scenes, for Ashwatthama, he has designed some unique traditional action scenes giving reference to Mahabharata. This story is also written by Nag Ashwin, in the first half the film moves forward at a slow pace. But in the second half, this film goes straight from first gear to fourth gear. The story also becomes engaging after the interval. Comedy has also been properly added to the film.

Nag Ashwin had earlier made Mahanati with Keerti Suresh and Dulquer Salmaan. The special thing about this film was that there was no action in this film, Nag Ashwin won the hearts of the audience by showing only emotions and drama. But this drama is not visible in Kalki 2898 AD even if you search for it. Despite having emotions without drama, it is not able to reach us. For example, Deepika is shedding tears for her child, but we are not able to connect with her. The way we get emotional after Deepika’s character is hanged in Jawaan, that emotional attachment is not felt in this film. But the actors have tried to give their 100 percent. The film does not have any strong dialogues or good songs like Baahubali or Pushpa, which can go viral or which can be remembered even after the film is over.

Though you will go to watch this as Prabhas’s film, when you leave the theatre, you will talk more about Amitabh Bachchan. Even at the age of 81, he has done a wonderful job. Flexibility is visible in his body. Prabhas’ action sequence is also strong. Especially in the last 20 minutes, he has stolen the entire limelight. In the first half, Prabhas’s slightly different and fun-filled style is seen. Deepika Padukone does not disappoint in whatever screen time she has got. Disha Patani also has a small role in the film, which is not that impactful. The screen time of Kamal Haasan, who plays the villain, is also kept very less. His right-hand man Shashvat Chatterjee also does justice to his role. Half a dozen big actors and filmmakers have done cameos in this film, which is the most surprising part of the film.

The biggest complaint with the makers of Kalki 2898 AD is about Prabhas’ character in the film. Prabhas seems to have less screen space compared to the other characters. He has very few scenes in the first half. Prabhas is playing another character in this film along with Bhairav. Prabhas wins hearts with his acting, comic timing, and amazing action. But compared to the characters of Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, Bhairav’s character in the film seems very weak and confusing. Looking at his character, it does not seem at all that he is the hero of this film, but in the climax, it is made clear what turn the film is going to take in the future. It is hoped that more effort will be put into Bhairav’s character in the second part of the film.

Amitabh Bachchan, who plays the role of Ashwatthama, is undoubtedly the main attraction of this film. After his entry, a different energy was seen in the theatre. The way Amitabh Bachchan has performed the action scenes in Kalki, even the youth will feel ashamed. His energy on screen is amazing. One must definitely go to the theatre to see Amitabh Bachchan in this film. Kamal Haasan has done complete justice to his role. But for him, we would like to say that this is just a glimpse, Part 2 is still left. In this film, too, special efforts have been made on his look. Deepika Padukone also plays her role honestly. We forget Disha Patni’s character before the second half. Better than them are the cameos of Dulquer Salman, Vijay Deverakonda, Ram Gopal Varma, and SS Rajamouli, which we enjoy a lot.

Kalki 2898 AD Kamal Hassan

Nag Ashwin directed the film. The film is boring in the first half. Many scenes seem stretched. The placement of the songs is also not good. The screenplay seems quite loose, it is not clear where the links are connected. The film could have been easily reduced by half an hour. The second half is where the film takes off. The larger-than-life screen presence of the stars, the high-octane action sequences, the VFX, and the 3D experience are amazing. The action sequences between Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan are amazing. We have been seeing for the past many years that the background music of big South Indian films is quite impressive. The music of Prabhas’s last release Salaar was also good. Kalki lagged behind in this matter. The background music is okay, but the songs are not good at all.

Who is Bhairava who goes around with his vehicle buzzing like Jalsaga? What is the goal of Supreme Askin Project K? Why does Sumathi sacrifice the girls for Project K? Yaskin empire complex, what is the struggle between Shambala areas? What is Bhairava doing in Kashi? How did Sumathi escape from the strict complex and meet Ashwatthama? Who is Bhairava who came for Ashwatthama? Has the Ashwatthama Curse been absolved? The story of Kalki 2898 AD is the answer to the question of why Yaskin decided to hunt for the escaped Sumati. The story starts with the backdrop of the Mahabharata war and then enters the world of 600 years of technology. Things like state-of-the-art vehicles and unimaginable things really thrill. However, the lack of depth in the story makes the film move very slowly due to the introduction of the characters. But it will be a relief to have some roles like RGV, SS Rajamouli, and Dulquer. But 20 minutes before the interval, the movie goes to another range. The first half ends with a good twist and the expectations for the second half increase.

And the movie disappoints the audience who have high expectations on the second half. Sloppy storytelling doesn’t make sense of what’s going on. But the last 30 minutes of the movie not only give the audience a new experience but also keep them glued to their seats. It can be said that the fight between Amitabh and Prabhas in the second half gave energy to the movie. And the climactic twist, the Kamal (Yaskin) episode gives the movie the complete satisfaction of having seen a good movie. It can be said that it raised expectations for the second part. But full credit for the movie Kalki 2898 AD should be given to Nag Ashwin and Amitabh. It must be said that the way Nag Ashwin has connected the story, mythology, and advanced technology world is magical. The characters written by Nagy and the screenplay that follows are fresh and thrilling. It seems that if some trim was done in part one, the movie speed would have increased, and the feeling of lag would not have come.

And it must be said that the audience of this generation got the chance to see Amitabh Bachchan actor Vishwaroop in Kalki’s movie. And Prabhas’s funny character feels good for the movie. Also, Prabhas’ action scenes are able to connect well with the mass audience. Deepika Padukone is an emotional character. Kamal Haasan has a very small role in this movie. But as long as there is, his character’s presence will be seen on the screen. RGV, Rajamouli, Vijay Deverakonda, and Dulquer’s roles will be a special attraction. Senior actress Shobhana has impressed in a good role. Nag Ashwin believes that there are many superheroes in our mythology. He wrote the story accordingly. The visuals are very good. Scored more marks as a director. There are two more parts, so many questions are going to be answered in them. Although the film is three hours long, the visuals keep the audience entertained for that long. There are minor flaws but they are nothing major to consider. It can be said that Kalki is there to raise the level of the Telugu film industry. You can watch the movie again for the visuals.

The production values are by the standards of the Vyjayanthi Movies banner. If you look at the production values followed by C Ashwinidat, Priyanka, and Swapna Dutt, it seems that they did not hesitate to spend. We should appreciate the efforts of Telugu cinema once again to show it to the world. Kalki 2898 AD is a visual wonder film connecting Mahabharata and today’s technology era. Nag Ashwin vision, Amitabh, Kamal, Deepika talent. Prabhas mass appeal is a plus point for this movie. And the music and slow narration of this movie are like a stone under the teeth of a good meal. Production values, making, and screenplay not only take the film to a range but also create a good feeling. Don’t miss the beginning of the movie. If you miss it, the movie is meaningless. So go ahead and enjoy the movie. There is no doubt that your ticket will give full value. Kalki 2898 AD movie is a must-watch movie. Let’s celebrate the movie.

Kalki 2898 AD Review: The Last Words

There is no doubt that this is a Hollywood-level film. The money invested in the film shows on screen. The cinematography, visual, and sound effects deserve praise. Such films are worth watching only in theatres. If you want to experience something larger than life on screen, then you can definitely go for this film. Since the first half is weak, you may have to be a little patient. For a great cinematic experience, definitely watch Kalki 2898 AD. The bonding between Buji and Bhairav will entertain you a lot. After a long time, Amitabh Bachchan has appeared as a strong character. This film can definitely be enjoyed by going to the theatre with the family. When it comes to the performance of technical departments..the performance of cinematography, visual effects, and art departments in this movie is excellent. The cinematography by Stojico Vick is good. But Santhosh Narayan’s music is a minus. The background score in many scenes feels poor. The songs are very boring and unimpressive.
