Jaguar Netflix: Release Date and Cast Everything You Need To Know About The Netflix Series With Blanca Suárez
The Madrid actress is a Nazi hunter in Franco’s Spain in the 1960s in this curious hybrid of thriller and historical drama, created by the creators of The Switchboard Girls. Blanca Suárez goes on the hunt for Nazis. It happens in the Jaguar series, streaming on Netflix starting September 22, 2021. The plot seems to be that of Hunters, at least in appearance: history can no longer be changed and then there is nothing left to do but give space to revenge. On closer inspection, however, there is much more behind the hybrid of deadly thriller and accurate historical drama by creators Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira. Above all a warning: to avoid that history repeats itself.
Jaguar Netflix: The Plot
Acclimatized in Spain of the sixties, Jaguar builds on the traumatic past of Isabel Garrido, a young woman survived the concentration camp at Mauthausen. During the war, his entire family was murdered by the Nazis. The memories of her father and brother make her relive every day the pain of the Holocaust and the inhuman perfidy of her tormentor, the hierarch Bachmann.
Despite having managed to return, Isabel cannot and does not want to forget. So he sets out in search of Bachmann: with the Francisco Franco regime in power, Spain is indeed a safe haven for hundreds of Nazis. It is the result of Operation Odessa, the organization which, with the support of the Vatican, favors the escape of the Nazis from Europe through Spain and Italy. For the Church, the Third Reich is better than Communism and many Ustasha hierarchs and fascists manage to reach South America thanks to false documents and special diplomatic channels or to build a second life under a new identity.
The man from Odessa in Spain is just him: Otto Bachmann. Having escaped the Nuremberg trial, he never paid for his crimes, he calls himself Skorzeny and is considered one of the most dangerous men in Europe. By watching him, you will also understand how many and which Nazis pass through the peninsula. Isabel soon discovers that she is not the only one chasing him. There is a group of agents who are looking for the Nazis who have taken refuge in the country. Justice in Caudillo’s Spain does not exist: the military junta rules with terror and the only justice for these characters, who in the meantime have even become respectable personalities, is death. When Isabel joins the squad of those who do not go to court and rely on unorthodox methods to identify and take down the high-ranking officers of the Third Reich, she is codenamed Jaguar.

Jaguar: The Creators
Jaguar was designed by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira , the authors of The Switchboard Girls . Campos defines the series as “my most personal project of recent years” because it is capable of balancing action and emotion: not just chases, shootings and executions, but above all moral choices that are difficult to make. Neira adds in the production notes that Jaguar “is fiction but inspired by reality”.
Produced by Bambú Productions, the production company of Campos and Teresa Fernández-Valdés already behind Grand Hotel – Intrigues and passions, Velvet, The girls of the switchboard and El Case Asunta (Operación Nenúfar), the first season of Jaguar consists of 8 episodes . The directors are Carlos Sedes and Jacobo Martínez. Expectations are therefore high: Jaguar promises to be a thrilling series full of twists, which bravely tackles one of the most painful and sensitive issues in twentieth-century Spanish history and which occurs at a time when the neo-Nazis and Francoist regurgitations of the ultra-right, colluding with conservative media and leading figures in the security forces, are increasingly encouraged, visible and present.
