IF – Imaginary Friends Movie: The Plot
At the center of IF is a young girl with an extraordinary power: the ability to see imaginary friends. But it’s not just about her personal imaginary friends; her extraordinary ability allows her to perceive all the imaginary friends forgotten by their humans, that is, the many children who have benefited from their company. With the fear of being alone and facing eternal abandonment, the imaginary friends decide to join the girl. She may be their only hope of being remembered before time runs out. An epic adventure begins, blurring the lines between the real world and the imaginary.
IF – Imaginary Friends Movie: The Star Cast
The film boasts an exceptional cast, made up of both human and vocal talents for Imaginary Friends. In the role of the protagonist, we find the charismatic Ryan Reynolds, the promising Cailey Fleming, and the expert Fiona Shaw. The voices of the imaginary friends are entrusted to an incredible cast, which includes Steve Carell, Krasinski’s former colleague on The Office, Quiet Place co-star Emily Blunt, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Matt Damon, Maya Rudolph, Vince Vaughn, Sam Rockwell, Sebastian Maniscalco, Christopher Meloni, Richard Jenkins, and Awkafina. An ensemble of talents that promises to give the public – who will listen to them in the original language – an unforgettable experience, mixing emotion, adventure, and a touch of magic.
Why is IF very Important to Krasinski?
The film has a particular meaning for Krasinski, who described it as extremely personal. The film is said to have an Amblin-esque feel, reminiscent of Steven Spielberg’s classic, E.T. In a previous interview, Krasinski said:
“IF is a film I created for my children, as I don’t think they can see A Quiet Place. Emily [Blunt] calls it PG-40, “You’ll see it when you’re 40!” So I had to make a movie that they could see, and I’m really, really excited about it […] Ryan Reynolds is extraordinary in every way, shape and form, and this incredible actress, Cailey Fleming, is in the movie.
For me the question was simply: what if we could tell a story about time capsules? Imaginary friends are adorable, but they’re also time capsules of your hopes, dreams, and ambitions from when you were little. I think they tell us to become adults, instead of understanding that maybe we never stop being children.”
