House of the Dragon, the new prequel series about the world of Game of Thrones, premiered its third episode this Sunday on HBO and its streaming platform HBO Max, with a new and important jump in time. And it is that already in its second episode, the production had advanced us six months, where King Viserys chooses Alicent Hightower as his next queen, to bring his long-awaited male heir into the world. More than two years have passed since the choice of the new queen for King Viserys, the Targaryen family seems ready to welcome new heirs to strengthen the bloodline. However, the feelings of joy shared by the population and the Council are not shared by everyone. The new lady of the king, the young Alicent Hightower, has given birth to a male heir: Aegon Targaryen, according to her name, be with the mere presence of her the main element of imbalance in the whole episode. Rhaenyra begins to feel the weight of a position in the balance and a role to be preserved at all costs. As much as her father tries to reassure her, the idea of ​​having to find a husband to strengthen his position on her throne begins to become a weight of no small importance. The conflict between conflicting opinions and difficult decisions will haunt the king’s mind, who after having contained will let go of all his frustration with his duty and heavy legacy.

At this juncture, Viserys’ fragility is opposed to Rhaenyra’s resolve, more than ever determined not to give in to the claims of the Hightower and totally in conflict with her old friend, now her stepmother. In the escape from duties that she does not intend to recognize, the young princess takes time for herself as important news arrives from the east, where Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon are working themselves to face the threat from the Stepstones. The battle against the Crab Eater is turning in an unexpected direction and only the crown can remedy such a thorny situation. When the king prepares to intervene, the very idea of ​​being pitied or receiving help will make Daemon’s dragon blood boil, and he will seize the ball to launch a furious attack on the disputed territory.

Now it takes us three years from the end of episode two, at which time he already has a son named Aegon and another on the way, so the rumors and expectations about naming a new heir, who is a man, are latent in the Seven kingdoms. Of course, the chapter begins with the continuation of the Stone Steps war, when free men led by a new villain attack Corlys Velaryon’s fleet. Given this, Daemon Targaryen, who was banished, decides to help before the refusal of his brother, the king.

After this, the jump in time is seen, where the royal family together with the Council and the different houses, celebrate the two years of the prince. In this celebration, Jason Lannister appears who hints to Rhaenyra that he intends to marry her, a situation that the princess does not like, so after arguing with her father, she ends up escaping from the camp. Viserys speaks with Otto Hightower, about whether he intends Rhaenyra’s marriage to be his true happiness, however,  the Hand of the King proposes that there be a wedding between his sons to protect the Targaryen line. To the king’s bewilderment, his adviser Lord Lyonel Stron advises that marriage be made with one of Velaryon’s sons, to form a new alliance.

Viserys’s overwhelm leads him to open up to his wife, Queen Alicent. “You know I named her to protect the realm from Daemon. She was my only daughter. The delight of the realm. I named her out of love because I no longer believed…” Viserys expresses and continues “My obsession killed Rhaenyra’s mother. I never imagined that I would marry again and have a child“. On the other hand, Otto Hightower’s intention is clear. “Aegon was born to rule. If Rhaenyra wanted to be heir, the kingdom would split in two,” he tells his daughter and queen Alicent. Her true purpose is for her to convince the king to choose Aegon as the heir. 

Later, we see a new conversation between Princess Rhaenyra and her father, King Viserys, where the latter tells her that his intention is for her to have the same happiness that he had with her mother, so she must choose him and concludes “I swear to you .” memory of your mother, you will not be supplanted”. Finally in Steps of Stone, Daemon receives a letter from Viserys where he offers him help to end the war, however with his pride he decides to carry out the plan of the sons of Velaryon and goes to the battlefield with a white flag.

As expected, Daemon attacks alone, and when everything seemed lost, Velaryon’s troops and his dragon arrive to back him up. This allows him to finally go after Craghas Drahar also known as Crabfeeder and return from the caves where they were hiding, with his body as a sign of victory.
