House Of The Dragon: 9 New Images From Via Entertainment Weekly Have Been Released
The Game of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon will be one of the great medieval fantasy bets of 2022, and its photos continue to be very promising. For almost a decade, Game of Thrones has managed to fascinate fans around the globe with its intriguing storytelling and superb adaptation of George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels. Yes, the end of the series indeed left many disenchanted by how its very essence had been diluted. Character development was questionable, especially in its final episodes.
With the original series over, HBO (now HBO Max) needed to fill the void left by the conflict in Westeros, but it’s a void that only another conflict in the Seven Kingdoms can fill. After a few unsuccessful projects, Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon was given the green light to adapt George RR Martin’s 2018 novel Fire and Blood. Set 300 years before the events of the main series, House of the Dragon focuses on the Targaryen house before the bloody civil war that marked the decline of the lineage.
House Of The Dragon: 9 New Images
Through the coverage of Entertainment Weekly on the series, the showrunner, Ryan Condal, has shared an outline of the series and the situation that we are going to find in its first season:
“I wanted to tell a story about the height of Rome before the fall and see the Targaryen dynasty at its height so we can understand what was lost when it all came crashing down. No one alive in this story has ever seen significant war or conflict … We are in a period when all men have been trained for battle from birth, but the battle never comes.”
Condal emphasizes the term “man”, highlighting that the role of women in that society was much more “medieval” than in Game of Thrones. However, he also highlights the importance that this situation will have on the characters of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. As you can see, the conflict is served. The new images give us a detailed look at some of the armor and symbology we’ll see in the series.
Game of Thrones: The House of the Dragon arrives at HBO Max on August 21, and will compete head-to-head against The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Although fantasy fans will be in for a treat to have two much-loved fantasy franchises back at the same time.
