Heeramandi: Release Date and Star Cast What We Know About Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s New Film

Renowned film producer and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has made a big announcement regarding his upcoming web series ‘Heeramandi’. Sanjay has joined hands with OTT platform Netflix for this much awaited web series. This web series is based on the stories of ‘Heeramandi’, a famous shiny district of India before independence. About this, 58-year-old Bhansali told that ‘Heeramandi’ will prove to be an important milestone in his entire career.

Recently, Bhansali has completed 25 years in the film industry. Bhansali made his directorial debut with the 1996 film Khamoshi: The Musical. His other films include ‘Black’, ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Devdas’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela’ and ‘Padmavat’. Currently, he is busy preparing for his upcoming film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. Alia Bhatt is in the lead role in this film and this film is set to release in theaters this year. Earlier the film was to be released on 30 July but due to Corona, all the plans got ruined. According to media reports, both Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha will play the role of actress sex worker in this web series and Alia Bhatt will be the leading actress of the film. Its story is based on the life of prostitutes and their money-loving customers during the partition of India and Pakistan. Many actors will also play in it.

This web series will be based on the stories and hidden cultural reality of the prostitutes of Hiramandi district of India before independence. This is a series about love, betrayal, succession and politics in the corners. The series promises Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s trademark big sets, huge characters and soulful composition.

It is a huge saga about the courtesans of Lahore, it is something I was living with for 14 years. It’s very vast and ambitious.” Heeramandi will explore themes of love, betrayal, succession and politics in the ‘kothas’ of Heeramandi through three generations of courtesans, said the report.
