Hawkeye Final: Who Owns That Watch? Whose Rolex Watch Is It? Here Is Explanation
We now definitely know who the Rolex watch belonged to: Laura Barton (Linda Cardellini), Clint Barton’s wife and SHIELD agent, as revealed by the logo that appears on the bottom of the case when Hawkeye hands it to his wife. But what’s more, they give us another clue: the number 19 is engraved, which indicates that Laura Barton is also nothing less than Agent 19 of SHIELD, a powerful agent despite not having superpowers. The series finale hasn’t left any cliffhangers for Hawkeye season 2. The big question from episode 4 of the Marvel Studios series Hawkeye It was: who owns the damn Rolex watch that the chandaleros have stolen and that Kate Bishop (Hailee Stanfield) recovers from the house of Maya López, aka Echo (Alaqua Cox)? And episode 6 of Hawkeye has answered it satisfactorily.
Hawkeye Final: Who Owns That Watch? Whose Rolex Watch Is It?
We were already clear that Florence Pugh’s Black Widow would appear (read: Yelena Belova seeking revenge, fueled by Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine) and we were reasonably clear that this watch had absolutely nothing to do with her, but we did not understand why it could be interested the band of the chandeliers in the first place and Kingpin behind them in a Rolex Date just that seemed to be a few years old, but above all, it was clear that it belonged to someone linked to Clint Barton’s (Jeremy Renner) past, which led us to The Avengers and SHIELD. Now that Marvel Studios is ready to introduce any character into the MCU (we already have Blade in the Eternals post-credits, Kit Harington’s Black Knight, Harry Styles’ Eros, and Kang, the Conqueror in Loki…), he could actually refer to any known or unknown character.
It was clear that the watch had to belong to Laura Barton (Linda Cardellini), Clint’s wife, and that the watch would link her to her past in SHIELD. The notes in the notebook next to the clock with the names of Clint’s wife and children are quite significant … The fact that Laura speaks German with Clint… The clock was next to Clint’s things in the Avengers headquarters, along with his Ronin suit and retractable sword… All the clues were there. Laura Barton was a SHIELD agent, now inactive. If we follow the canon of comics it is Agent 19, something like a 007 from SHIELD.
The fans were convinced that it could not be so obvious, that there had to be a locked cat, so they tried to find another character in the series who had already been infiltrated in an organization before in the comics and who could be some kind of Double Agent: Tony Dalton’s character Jack Duquesne was the favorite choice of theory-loving fans, not realizing they wanted to sell him to us as an Agatha, when in fact he was a Ralph Bohner. The fans of the series were convinced that he could not just be the guy who was dedicated to laundering money with the chandaleros, with the mini-criminal organization of Maya López’s father. It had to be something else. We already know that we believed that the series Hawkeye she wants us to do an Agatha Harkness with Jack Duquesne.
One of the main theories asked this question: what if someone is working for SHIELD or The Avengers infiltrated the Kingpin organization? “My main theory is that the owner of the watch is Jack. He would be secretly working with the Avengers to track down and take down the great and powerful Kingpin. Jack and Clint would be acting like they don’t know each other.” The theory assumed that Clint and Jack had worked together in the past, which to some extent would fit with the origin of both in the comics, although it is not the same. This theory was later complicated and claimed that it was actually a Skrull, but that was already curling the curl a lot. In the MCU, it turned out, Jack and Clint have never met.
