Haseen Dillruba Review: The Story

The story of Haseen Dillruba takes us through the journey of Rani Kashyap (Taapsee) and Rishabh Saxena (Vikrant Massey) aka Rishu. In the film, both Rani and Rishu are two different sides of the same coin with very different thinking. While Rani is an independent girl from Delhi, Rishu is an engineer from a small town named Jwalapur.

Rishu, who has been rejected many times by girls because of her simple looks, finally finds her love in Rani, who is not too keen on marrying a small town boy. However, Rishu wins Rani’s heart with his love and thus the two get married. Once you get married, things change. Rishu’s mother, like any other mother-in-law, expects Rani to do all the household chores and become a ‘household’ daughter-in-law. But the queen does not like this thing.

Amidst the ensuing fight between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, Rani tries to seduce Rishu to satisfy her sexual needs, who shows no interest. Such behavior of his affects the passion in their newly married marriage. Another difficult phase in their relationship comes when Rishu’s cousin Neil (Harshvardhan) enters the film. Neil, with a very charming personality, gives Rani everything she wants from Rishu with attention, command, respect and pleasure. After which Rani’s relationship with Neil progresses and they come very close to each other.

After Neil leaves, Rishu learns about their relationship. There is a rift in the relationship between the two. Not only this, one day when the queen is not staying at home, Rishu dies in a mysterious explosion at home. In this incident, Rishu’s body is completely burnt, so the only evidence is the tattoo of the queen’s name on her hand. The matter goes to the police and is then tried to be solved by the team of Kishore Rawat (Aditya Srivastava) with Rani suspected of murdering her husband. However, while solving the case, the love triangle of Rani, Rishu and Neel comes to the fore in front of the police. Which is shown in a very beautiful way in the film.

Haseen Dillruba Review: Review and Direction

Vinil Mathew, who directed ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ (2014), has made a comeback with his second film ‘Haseen Dillruba’. Taking a different story from his directorial debut, he has kept the thrill and appeal in the Netflix film. He has allowed the characters of his film to sink into the depths. It would not be wrong to say that Haseen Dillruba is a great film, you can give it your time without thinking.

If we are considering Vinil as the strong link of the film, then Kanika Dhillon, the writer who wrote this story, is its life. He has strengthened the characters with a brilliant story, engaging screenplay and powerful dialogues. She has touched very beautifully everything that a woman endures at different points. For example, in Indian society, a modern and independent woman is called a ‘neech woman’ and a daughter-in-law who does not do household chores is called ‘wrong’.

Haseen Dillruba Review: Performances

Taapsee has breathed life into the character created by Kanika. It would not be wrong to say that hardly anyone can do justice to this character better than Taapsee. From his expression to body language in the film, everything is excellent. On the other hand, if we talk about Vikrant, he has come out of his chocolate boy image and has played a completely different role. His character in the film is completely different and surprising. In the film, you would like to stick to the fact that Rishu is a simple and straightforward person, but his smile brings out a different side of him in front of you. Harshvardhan has a smaller role as compared to Taapsee and Vikrant, although this has not affected his performance in any way. Harshvardhan as Neil is looking very hot and dashing. He has caught everyone’s attention with his acting and expression.

Haseen Dillruba Review

Aditya Srivastava, who is best known for playing Abhijeet in the TV show C.I.D, has a small but good role. However, the talented actor Dayashankar Pandey could not be used properly in the film. Her music plays a very important role in the thriller film and Amit Trivedi has done a commendable job in Haseen Dillruba. Jaikrishna Gummadi’s cinematography is superb. Editor Shweta Venkat has maintained the thrill of the film’s story.

Love, Anger, Hate, Gafflat, Madness. Both the actors were given a chance to show every gesture in the film by the director, which they have also played well. But it would not be wrong to say that the one who grabs the attention of the entire film is Vikrant. His character has been written in many layers and the actor has played it with equal depth. Aditya Srivastava has done a good job in the role of Inspector Kishore. Harshvardhan Rane also suits his character.
