Good Omens Season 2: Release Date and Cast What We Know Till Now

Amazon Studios announced today that it has greenlit the highly anticipated second season of the Amazon Original ‘Good Omens’ series. Award-winning actors Michael Sheen, (Quiz, the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” Scandal, Staged) and David Tennant (Des, Staged) will reprise their leading roles as the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley respectively, an unusual duo united to save the world from the apocalypse. The six episodes of the second season of this fantasy drama will begin filming later this year in Scotland and will soon premiere on Amazon Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world exclusively.

The new season will explore plots that go beyond the original script to give birth to this peculiar friendship between Aziraphale, a fussy angel and rare book dealer, and the fast-paced demon, Crowley. Having been on Earth since The Beginning and with the Apocalypse thwarted, Aziraphale and Crowley return to a quiet life among mortals in London’s Soho when an unexpected messenger presents himself with a surprising mystery.

Neil Gaiman has stated that: “Good omens was published 31 years ago, which means that 32 years ago, during an international fantasy convention, Terry Pratchett and I lay on our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room, and we plan the sequel. I managed to use bits of the sequel to Good Omens, which is where our angels came from. Terry is no longer here, but when he was, we talked about what we wanted to do with Good Omens and where the story would go. Now, thanks to BBC Studios and Amazon, I can take it there. I have recruited some wonderful collaborators and John Finnemore has joined the project to champion it with me. There are many questions that people have asked themselves about what happened after (and also, what happened before) to our favorite Angel and Devil. Here are the answers you have been waiting for. We are back in Soho, and through time and space, we solve a mystery that begins with an angel wandering through Soho, without memory. “

For his part, Douglas Mackinnon said: “Bringing Good Omens to my native Scotland for a second season is a dream come true for me. And with the return of Michael Sheen and David Tennant as Aziraphale and Crowley, we really have an angel and a demon on our side. “

In the words of Rob Wilkins: “Terry and Neil always knew that Crowley and Aziraphale would not settle for being in a single story, and they had long harbored plans to expand their adventures. The stellar performances of David and Michael made this an absolute must. Terry would have been delighted with the way they brought their characters to life, and as delighted as I am that a second season is now underway. “

On his part, always in his humorous tone, Michael Sheen has said: “Personally, I am against it, but the world is not going to save itself, is it? If David and I manage not to antagonize this time, they may even have a chance to finish it. “

David Tennant noted that: “The return of Good Omens is great news for me because I am working with Michael again and I can reinterpret Neil’s wonderful words. It is probably not that good for the universe, since it is almost certain that there will be a new threat that will endanger its existence, but, you know, there is no harm that does not come”.
