Foundation: What is Story About?

The premise of ‘Foundation’ is that, in the last days of a future Galactic Empire, the mathematician “Hari Seldon” spends his life developing the theory of psychohistory , a new and effective mathematical sociology.

Using the statistical laws of crowd action, you can predict the future of large populations. “Seldon” foresees the imminent fall of the Empire, which encompasses the entire Milky Way , and a dark age that will last 30,000 years before a second empire emerges.

Although the inertia of the Empire’s fall is too great to stop it, “Seldon” devises a plan whereby “the rushing mass of events must be deflected just a little” to finally limit that dark age to just a thousand years. To carry out his plan, “Seldon” creates the Foundations – two groups of scientists and engineers seated at opposite ends of the galaxy – to preserve the spirit of science and civilization, and thus become the cornerstones of the new galactic empire. .

A key feature of Seldon’s theory, which has proven to be influential in real-world social science, is the uncertainty principle of sociology: if a population gains knowledge of its intended behavior, its collective self-aware actions become unpredictable.

Foundation Series Trailer

After staying just over a year without news, on June 28 the first full trailer of ‘Foundation’ was finally shared, full of action scenes, a quick view of all the characters, and the scoop on which the story rests. series: Predicting the Fall of the Galactic Empire; the leadership of “Hari Seldon” and the efforts that will be made to reduce the inevitable dark age.

Although Isaac Asimov considered himself a feminist, both he and his works have been the subject of much criticism for the shortage or lack of female characters. The series ‘producer, David Goyer, appears to be making a concerted effort to re-imagine the series’ sexual politics, modifying the gender of three male characters (“Demerzel,” “Salvor,” and “Gaal”) for female roles. For a TV series, it is challenging to tackle an epic story like that of the ‘Foundation’, as the nature of the plot implies that the entire cast will have to be replaced periodically when the narrative jumps to the following scenarios. In the books, the intervals range from one or two years to centuries, so the audience will have little continuity in terms of the characters as the narrative progresses. Other than that, the ambitious scale of Asimov’s vision should make ‘Foundation’ an incredible story, unlike anything we’ve seen before on TV.
