Fear Street: Prom Queen Ending Explained: Why Did They Want to Kill Lori?
From 23 May 2025, it is available on Netflix, Fear Street: Prom Queen. It is a film set in the haunted town of Shadyside. After the first trilogy that was released in 2021, another horror adventure arrives. The plot is set during the year-end dance of ’80, and Shadyside High School is preparing for the long-awaited event. Students, however, do not know that there is a threat in the shadows. They certainly don’t imagine that they face a masked killer. Fear Street: Prom Queen/Fear Street 4, moved us to Shadyside in 1988, just as the institute was preparing for its classic prom. The favorite dance queens are Tiffany Falconer, the richest and most bossy in high school, and Lori Granger, who refuses to surrender to the power of money and popularity. But this year, there is something else at stake: a series of murders begins to decimate the candidates for the throne. And what at first seems like a typical slasher, soon becomes a personal matter… and supernatural.

Fear Street: Prom Queen Ending Explained: Who is the First Killer and Who Dies?
The plot of the film Fear Street: Prom Queen on Netflix ends with the revelation of the identity of the killers and of why they targeted Lori Granger. It all starts when Shadyside High prepares for the prom, with students who would like to conquer the titles “re of the dance” and “prom queen”. My favorites are Mellisa, Debbie, Linda, Tiffany, Christy, and Lori. The richest and most famous girl in the neighborhood is Tiffany, who is also very bad with her peers and seems to be destined to triumph. Lori, however, wants to fight to make everything fairer. But there are masked killers ready to eliminate anyone who can become the prom queen. Well, the first killer is Dan Falconer, one of the high school teachers and Tiffany’s father. Before the discovery, Christy, Melissa, Debbie, Linda, and their respective boyfriends die (except Christy’s boyfriend, who does not attend this high school).
Guardian Stoker is also killed. Finally, Lori and her best friend Megan have the same fate. Not only that, but other students and staff are killed. To expose Dan is Lori, who uses the winning tiara to stab him. Thus, man is forced to remove the mask and reveal his identity. When Nancy asked him the reason for his terrible actions, he explained that he knew that triumph as a prom queen was important to her and Tiffany. But Vice President Dolores Brekenridge points out that, in reality, he would not have allowed his daughter to win anyway, as in the face of all the murders, the competition would have been canceled. Dan replies that he was convinced that everyone would forget what happened and would remember only Tiffany’s victory as a queen.
How Fear Street: Prom Queen Ends: Final Explanation
But who are the other killers on Fear Street: Prom Queen? Two masked assassins show up to kill Melissa. We discover, after Dan’s revelation, that Nancy is the other killer, also obsessed with her daughter’s victory as a prom queen. Dan is taken away by the police, and Lori decides to keep Tiffany company, who appears shaken by what has happened. But here we find out that the real Tiffany is the third killer. Mother and daughter pull out the knives to kill Lori. The reason? In the past, his mother Rose started a relationship with the man who loved Nancy. Indeed, Nancy was in love with Lori’s father, who then married Rose when they went to high school. Tiffany’s mother never forgot him and even killed him, blaming Rose. In Fear Street: Prom Queen, Nancy and Tiffany initially put Lori in a tight spot and are about to kill her. Lori manages to get the better of hitting and killing Nancy. The blood coming out of her head forms the symbol found in the Widow’s satanic book, which she probably used to perform this crazy mission. From 1978 to 1994, Nick Good used the book, which appears to have invoked Nancy’s name, making her a serial killer with her husband and daughter. Dan and Tiffany seem not to have been cursed, but they would only have carried out Nancy’s orders. In the end, the only one to face the consequences of their actions is Dan in the finale of the Netflix film.
Fear Street: Prom Queen: Who Were the Killers?
The film reveals that there are not one, not two, but three masked assassins. The first is Dan Falconer, a high school teacher and Tiffany’s father. He has killed several female candidates for the throne (including Melissa, Debbie, Linda, and Christy), in addition to the janitor and whoever crosses his path. But his plan falls apart when Lori stabs him with the tiara after being crowned dance queen. Dan, dying, admits he just wanted his daughter to win, whatever the cost. But it doesn’t end there: it is discovered that his wife, Nancy, is also one of the assassins. And the third… is Tiffany herself. The three generations of Falconers were willing to kill to get the title. When they corner Lori to finish her off, she manages to defend herself: Tiffany dies impaled on a statue, and Lori ends up beating Nancy to death. But when she dies, Nancy’s blood forms a demonic symbol, the same one we saw in the original trilogy. Something darker is at stake.

Why Did They Want to Kill Lori?
The final reason is older than the prom itself: jealousy. Nancy confesses that Lori’s mother, Rose, “stole the man from her life” in high school. In revenge, he killed Lori’s father and blamed Rose, staining the Granger surname forever. All this massacre was to make Lori suffer … and, by extension, her mother.
Is There a Connection to Shadyside’s Curse?
Yes. In a post-credit scene, the symbol of the witch Sarah Fier appears under Nancy’s body. This suggests that the Falconer family may have been possessed by the same evil that plagued Shadyside since 1666. Some fans speculate that it was Sheriff Goode (or some of his relatives) who offered their souls to the devil, as part of the satanic pact that explains the previous installments. What’s more: the sheriff who interrogates Nancy after a previous massacre is called Goode…
