The Qilin States That Dumbledore Has A Pure Heart

Because two spells cast by those who signed the pact collide. Dumbledore explains it thus “he wanted to kill, I wanted to protect”, referring to Credence.

Why Does the Qilin Bow to Dumbledore?

Dumbledore’s plan to hide the real Qilin by creating five copies of Newt’s suitcase bears fruit. Grindelwald managed to deceive everyone by making himself crowned the supreme head of the wizarding world and hurling a Crusader curse against Jacob, accused of having made an attempt on his life.

When all seems lost, however, Lally, Newt’s assistant, takes out the real suitcase, which had so far gone unnoticed. The real Qilin emerges from the suitcase, examines the candidates and, surprisingly, bows to Dumbledore. It is he, despite the mistakes of the past, who has the purest heart and the right character to lead the magical world. Dumbledore thanks the animal but refuses the charge. The Qilin then heads towards Vicência Santos, who will become the head of the magical world.

Grindelwald decides to kill Credence, already quite close to death. Both Albus and Aberforth cast a spell to protect the boy. The power of these three spells combined causes the blood pact between Gellert and Albus to waver: the pendant is broken, the two are free to kill each other.

The Duel Between Grindelwald And Dumbledore

Because despite the breaking of the pact, neither of them really wants to kill their friend. Gellert tells Albus: “I’ve never been your enemy; neither then nor now.

The two ancient lovers can finally face off. A very tight duel takes place, which ends when both, at close range, have their wands pointed at each other and their hand on the opponent’s chest, where they feel their heart beating. Perhaps neither of them has really tried to kill the other: in both of them the memory of the past is still too strong. Grindelwald is the first to retire. Before running away he tells Dumbledore:

Who will love you now Dumbledore? Now you are alone

Words that, in the light of the final scene, return all the melancholy and loneliness of the headmaster of Hogwarts. Gellert reveals to Dumbledore that she never intended to kill him:

I have never been your enemy; neither then nor now.

The impression is that, even with the deal broken, Grindelwald won’t try to get Dumbledore out of the way anytime soon. Credence, dying, makes his last wish come true. Aberforth, revealed to be his father, hugs him and helps him down the stairs. He will finally be able to go home for what little he has left. After Grindelwald’s escape, Auror leader Theseus asks Dumbledore:

promise me you’ll seriously look for it and stop it.

Dumbledore and Newt thwart Grindelwald’s plan, bringing the real Qilin, who bows down to the supreme leader, to the ceremony. Dumbledore, who refuses the assignment. A spell breaks the blood pact between him and Gellert, who begin to fight. Neither has the upper hand, so the duel ends in a draw and Gellert runs away, after telling Albus that he never considered him an enemy. In the finale, Queenie and Jacob get married.

After so many ups and downs, Queenie and Jacob can finally get married. For the occasion, Newt meets Tina again and a timid glimmer of mutual interest seems to reopen between the two.

Newt sees Dumbledore on the bench across the street from Jacob’s bakery (where wedding preparations are underway), undecided whether to enter or not. The magi zoologist now understands Dumbledore’s character and knows that his thoughts are now for Gellert and that he will probably not attend the wedding. Newt reassures him of his loyalty to the cause, and Dumbledore tells him that if the opportunity arises, he will use him again in the fight against Grindelwald. The film ends with Dumbledore walking alone, in the snow, pensive and melancholy. Above all alone, as predicted by Gellert.
